Beautiful Strandhill in Ireland’s County Sligo is the location of our feature today, as it was one of the first places Sarah and Scott went on a date. Fast forward a few years and it also became the place where Scott proposed. The couple chose to have an engagement session before their wedding as a way to get some practice being in front of them camera before the big day, as well as to mark the place that was so special to both of them. Darek Novak was the talent behind the camera that day.

We met in a typical Irish way, on a night out through mutual friends! We got engaged on the promenade in Strandhill, Co. Sligo in Ireland. It is the most beautiful village and beach and one of the first places we went on a date, a walk on the beach. On that day we found two unusual little stones on the beach and Scott brought them home, I had forgotten all about them until Scott showed me them as a reminder of where we started 5 years previously then he got down on one knee and popped the question!

We chose to have engagement photos as I personally don’t like having my photo taken and this aspect of the wedding day was really making me nervous. I thought it would be a good idea to spend some time with Darek Novak, our photographer before our wedding day so that I would be more at ease. Also we had seen other engagement shoots that Darek had done and the photos were so lovely that we thought it would be good to have some nice pictures to mark our engagement. Darek actually chose the location for the photos, they were taken in Strandhill so that was perfect for us as it was where we got engaged. For other couples thinking about an engagement session, a tip for the girls would be to be aware of the wind! I’ve lived in Strandhill all my life and I still forgot, so my hair is windswept in most of the photos!

We got married on the 31st July 2015 in Strandhill Church with our reception afterwards in Castle Dargan Hotel, Ballygawley, Co. Sligo. It was literally the best day of our lives and Darek got amazing photos, something we will treasure for the rest of lives.
