I suppose we normally associate lavender hills with France and olive groves with Italy so I had to do a quick double check when I opened up this beauty of a wedding to edit! Seeing Joanna and Erik’s Italian wedding through the lens of Iconoclash Photography makes me want to travel this afternoon without even packing a suitcase. Set on the stunning grounds of Castello di Monterone, only a stone’s throw from the historic city of Perugia – family and friends travelled from both London and Canada join Joanna and Erik on their wedding day and by all accounts, what a great day it was – but we will let the pictures do the talking…

From Iconoclash Photography..

“Joanna’s family is from England while Erik’s is from Canada- so to find some neutral ground and please both sides of their families, they decided to have their dream Italian wedding and get married in the medieval Castello di Monterone on the hills of Umbria.

Their ceremony was one of the most beautiful and personal I’d ever witnessed. Belonging to two different faiths (Joanna is Jewish and Erik is Catholic), they decided to have a humanist officiant. The ceremony included their favourite traditions from both their Jewish and Catholic faiths and they both wrote their own vows. Joanna, among other things, promised Erik “baked goods for the rest of your life”.

Nearly all of their guests travelled to Italy to celebrate with Joanna and Erik especially. They were well rewarded with views over the Italian hills, the scent of wild-growing lavender, and a lovely and laid-back celebration that lasted well into the night.”
