This week, after a love shoot in Paris, we waved goodbye to a wonderful 2011 with some New Years Eve Wedding Inspiration and said hello to 2012 with our great friend and make – up artist extraordinaire, Ellie Balfe with tips on how to re-create Aisling’s make-up from our Sail Away Inspiration series.

On Tuesday we started back on our travels with a snowy engagement session in Cambridge, United Kingdom and featured a gorgeous elopement in Rome on Wednesday.

Yesterday we shared Dan and Michelle’s intimate wedding in Paris which brings us, very quickly might I add, back to Friday again and our FAB 5 picks for the week.

Blog trotting this week we came across a few great destination and travel inspired weddings and we wanted to share…

Wedding Trends for 2012

On last weeks FAB 5 we took a look back at some of our favourite posts from 2011. This week.. we are very much looking forward with 5 FAB wedding trends for 2012 that we think will we can count on for the weddings of next year!

1. Tangerine! ✈ Yep.. Bright and wonderful. Tangerine Tango is the 2012 Pantone Colour of the Year and we can’t wait to see it and it’s various tones, shades and forms popping up in weddings this year. While the colour itself is a little more like the BM dresses below, the use of actual tangerine fruit as place cards is just yum.

2. Patterned Bridal Party Attire ✈ Mix and Match has been popular enough over the years in the States but like a lot of things, it is a trend that has only recently started picking up in Europe and further afield. So along with mixing and matching this year, we have a hunch that patterns are going to be the next fashion step forward in 2012… What do you think?

3. Metallics ✈ Another striking trend that we saw snippets of in 2011 was the use of metallics. From invitations to cakes, it can be easily incorporated into most colour schemes. We think it’s going to catch on in 2012 and are expecting glimmering hues of gold, blue and silver to be a firm favourite amongst wedding colour palettes around the world this year.

4. Capped Veils ✈ Veils made a major come-back in 2011 with Kate Middleton, Kate Moss, Lily Allen and Ralph Lauren’s daughter in law, Lauren Bush Lauren choosing to wear them and complete their designer bridal looks. These beautiful ladies have inspired the 2012 bride and one particular style we are really hoping to see loads of this year is the capped veil.

5. First Touch ✈ For some couples, spending a few minutes with your betrothed before the wedding begins is a really special moment that the two of you can share together before your attention suddenly gets split amongst your new half and your guests, allowing you some alone time to have a little laugh or cry which will also help calm any nerves and pre-wedding jitters. While the “First Look” has become increasingly popular, some brides and grooms are also put off by the idea as traditionally, it is considered “bad luck to see the bride before the wedding”. Some couples also just prefer to wait until the walking up the aisle bit to see one another. The “First Touch” however gives you the best of both… calming re-assurance and the suprise later on which is why we are hot tipping it for 2012

Whether our predictions turn out to be accurate or not, one thing we know for certain is that the year ahead will be full of beautifully creative weddings, destination or not. Have a great weekend!
