The vineyard setting for today’s destination wedding really helped set the tone for Marlene and Leslie’s romantic, relaxed but effortlessly beautiful Portuguese nuptials. Even though we have featured hundreds of wedding venues over the past few years, there is always something about a vineyard setting that sets our hearts a flutter. Planning a European wedding from New York, with guests flying in from Ireland, Turkey, the UK, Mexico and the States is no mean feat but when it’s captured as beautifully as today’s, it is more than worth all of the hard work.

From their Photographer; “Marlene and Leslie had an unlikely meeting at a boxing class where Marlene took up one of Leslie’s classes. After becoming engaged, they opted to have their wedding near Marlene’s hometown in Portugal, with Leslie’s Irish relatives flying in for the celebrations.

The very heartfelt ceremony  took place at a sweet little church located only walking distance from their reception at the vineyard estate. Guests were treated to the venue’s exquisite Reserve wine and although it was a particularly hot day, everyone enjoyed one another’s company and the lovely rustic feel to Quinta de Sant´Ana.  The event was full of  heart-felt speeches, laughs, happy tears and some Irish and Portuguese song singing. The couple just beamed with happiness and love for one another!”

Loving the maypole bouquet and trying to find out a little bit more about this tradition so if anyone knows anything on that front, we would love to hear about it! Also, did you see their suitcase cake? So unusual and perfect for a destination wedding! Massive congratulations to Marlene and Leslie and of course a special thank you to Fábio Azanha Photography for sharing this beautiful wedding with us today.

Gorgeous everything! I love the table in the courtyard with people gathering around. I’m actually getting married at this venue next year. Any idea where all the guests stayed ?
