Today’s wedding was held at one of the most picturesque venues we’ve seen in Italy, and that’s saying something! Zena and Matt planned their celebration after deciding to move to Italy from California after Matt proposed. They actually quit their jobs in the US and decided to make the big move, learning Italian as they went. Romantic or what? More details from Zena below after these gorgeous images by Moumou Photography.

“Matt proposed to me on board the coast starlight train in California. We had just decided to quit our jobs in the US and pursue our dreams of living in Italy and learning Italian. Despite not planning on venue-shopping until we were in Italy, I came across Villa Catureglio online and we made the brave and slightly risky decision to book it without seeing it in person! Although I wouldn’t recommend this sort of thing to all brides-to-be, it turned out to be everything we dreamed of. We took it over for four days, had a pizza party, and were able to catch up with friends and family before the big day.

We had 6 months of planning during our travels around Italy, and prioritised venue, food and photography. Our photographers were Chiara and Giuseppe from Moumou Photography, based in Milan. Their reportage style was perfect and captured some magic moments.

I made all of our stationary and the decorations, and mixed this with lots of lighting to create a magical summers evening feel. The venue itself was beautiful and didn’t need much decoration- something I’d recommend to anyone marrying abroad as there are only so many suitcases you can fill!

Il Fattore Party were our amazing caterers recommended by our venue – Italy knows how to do wedding food. We were also spoilt with local wine we found in the local village, and got our rings custom made there too. It was a lot of fun working with local vendors for every element of our wedding – for us getting married abroad was all about doing it in a country and culture we love, and we met some great people along the way.”

Another amazing place! I love how they had the tables set up in a U to keep everyone together, and I echo Chrissy’s comment about the dresses – they are wonderful!
