A Destination Wedding ✈ Joanna & Paul’s Wedding in Ireland by Studio 33

JoannaPaulStudio33_035

We have a lovely treat for you today all thanks to a very creative couple, Joanna and Paul and one talented photographer. Joanna, an art teacher from Toronto and Paul, originally from Dublin (but living in Toronto for the past 20 years) married in Ireland last year with a beautiful wedding reception at the Station House Hotel in Co. Meath. This small intimate affair was caught on camera by Fionn McCann of Studio 33 and we are simply mad about it!

Joanna fills us in on their love story… “We’d known each other for 8 years prior to dating, we knew the same people. I didn’t fancy Paul at all, he was a little rough around the edges for me. One evening, we happened to be at the same event and overheard me talking to some friends cursing the old garage door of the house I had just purchased because it was rusted and wouldn’t open. The next day I received an email from Paul telling me that I should take it easy on the garage door… I ended up inviting Paul to one of my singing gigs at a jazz bar in Toronto. He came with a friend and for the first time in 8 years I actually thought he was kind of cute. I guess that’s where it all began, not always a smooth ride, but what do you expect from and Irish man and a French Italian woman.”

Lisa O’Dwyer Photography FAB Sponsor Spotlight ✈ Special Offer

LisaODwyer_024

Today we’re delighted to introduce Lisa O’Dwyer Photography as the newest of Fly Away Bride’s sponsors. Based in Ireland, Lisa will happily travel internationally to capture your special day. You may have seen Lisa’s work previously on Fly Away Bride including an engagement shoot which she photographed for an American couple in Guinness Store House here. We’re thrilled to have Lisa onboard and because we wanted to get to know her better we had a little Q&A…

Can you tell us a little about your company and what you offer?

I’m Lisa, of Lisa O’Dwyer Photography, an American living in County Kildare with my Irish husband and two young boys. I offer a photography service that is tailored to the individual and reflects the unique story of a couple. I studied Fine Art and Art History at university, and hope to convey a fine-art style in my photography. This style is influenced by fabulous American photographers such as Jose Villa and Elizabeth Messina. Natural light is very important to this style as it gives a soft glow to the subject. In addition to capturing the beauty of weddings, I also love to capture the fun. I’m not all about style…I’m totally about substance. I really enjoy this job!

What is your approach to photographing weddings and what is your preferred style?

I follow the main participants on the day and am always on the look-out for pure emotions and capturing the beauty in a fleeting moment. I do a little bit of posing through direction of couples. It’s always fun and natural and is never cheesy. I think people need a little direction to look their very best in their shots as a newly married couple. I’m not a photojournalist just getting snapshots. I see myself as an artist or art director always looking to make my client look their very best and truly convey their joy.

Konfral_5008

I’m really thrilled to introduce Konrad from Konfral Photography as the newest of Fly Away Bride’s sponsors. Based in London, Konrad travels all over the UK and internationally to capture beautiful images of couples on their very special day. Originally from Poland Konrad is used to shooting in all weather extremes perfect for destination weddings…

Can you tell us a little about yourself, your company and what you offer?

Hi! My name is Konrad a.k.a “Konfral” and I’m a London based lifestyle, portrait and wedding photographer. I do most of my work on location rather than in studio. I love working outdoors, especially in the evenings when all the city lights come to life.

What is your approach to photographing weddings and what is your preferred style?

I always aim to tell the story of a wedding day from start to finish, which is why I almost exclusively take “full day coverage” assignments. I would describe my style as contemporary, relaxed and with a cinematic touch. I love capturing unstaged moments, genuine emotions, and beautiful details. I try to blend into the background on the wedding day itself, and document the story as it unfolds, but I’ll give you lots of creative ideas and some posing direction on the pre-wedding session. I love bridal portraiture, which probably comes across quite strongly in my portfolio.

Where are you based and what cities/countries are you available to for work in?

I am based in London, but prepared to travel almost anywhere for a good photo opportunity. So far, I’m booked to shoot in Paris and Prague this Summer and also do some work back in my “old country” – Poland.

I’m super excited about Ana Lui’s very generous reader giveaway!

Can you tell us a little about Ana Lui Photography and what you offer?

At the moment our team consists of myself Ana Lui, and Eva Kriuper.
We both graduated from Art Universities, which makes us a little bit geekier than other photographers we know… we love research and we love experiments !
I started my career in 2007 as a second photographer and location manager/production assistant in Ibiza, Spain. In May 2011 I will be opening my own photography studio and also for the year 2011 we are officially fully booked!
We also have Giacomo Gex on board, he joined us last year. Giacomo is a freelance videographer who enjoys working with us and makes wedding videos that make people cry… cry with joy and happiness!

I make sure I am almost invisible so the shots that I’m getting are as natural as possible. Eva and I understand each other well and we have the same aesthetic ideas and sensitivity! So our photos have similar style!

Brosnan Photographic FAB Sponsor Spotlight

Brosnan_011

I am very excited today to introduce to you one of our very talented sponsors, Brosnan Photoraphic. Broanan photographic is run by the lovely Christina, the woman behind the lens. Christina is originally from the US and she is causing quite a buzz in the Irish wedding market with her beautiful and fresh approach to wedding photography.

Can you tell us a little about Brosnan Photographic and what you offer?

Yes, the name is very vague, but Brosnan Photographic is basically just Christina Brosnan. I’m a photographer who’s focus is weddings. I love Love and capturing that on camera.

What is your approach to photographing weddings and what is your preferred style?

My style is natural, elegant, bespoke and a little eclectic. I like to be very discreet during weddings and let the day just happen, though I wouldn’t classify myself as photojournalistic. I think a photojournalistic style is much more edgy than mine. I like working with natural light and rarely use flash. My favourite part of the day is the time I get with the couple. My approach to working with a couple is suggestive and interactive. I feel that even if a couple is very uncomfortable in front of the camera if I keep them interacting with each other they will come across more relaxed and natural in the photos. I’m not a fan of standing still and cheesy smiles. My other favourite part of the day is the details! Details play wonders in telling the full wedding story.

Where are you based and what cities/countries are you available to for work in?

I travel worldwide! Nowhere is too far! I currently live in Kildare but meet all my clients at The Bridal Lounge in Dublin.
