We’re back in Sweden today… Peter and Linda’s wedding was a 3 day weekend affair with both them and their guests driving the 7 hour journey to Skåne in Southern Sweden (Sweden’s Tuscany) to celebrate.
None of us or any of our relatives or friends are from Skåne. I has always travelled there in the Summers together with my parents since I was a kid. Then when I met the Peter, we were both students and didn’t have a lot of money to see the world. Therefore we traveled there the first summer as a couple. We fell in love with the beautiful surroundings and fabulous restaurants, so we made it an yearly tradition to go to Skåne. And we always said that Skåne would be the place for us to get married! And so we did. All our guest had to make it a weekend to travel together with us to be a part of the wedding. That became a part of our theme – a travel to Sweden’s Toscana.
In the morning the bride had breakfast with her bridesmaids at Hedmans Pension near by the church, and the groom with the rest of the guests at Idala Gård (where the reception was held later in the day). The brides mother, Christina, and the grooms aunt, Leena, joined the bride at Hedmans Pension and was helping her get ready for the ceremony.
Linda did her own make-up, and Leena helped her with her hair. Linda said she was so nervous that her hands where shaking, so putting on the make-up took a whole lot longer than planned!
The best moment was when I was ready to put on my veil. We all cried some happy tears.

Today we have the beautiful wedding of an English/Swedish couple Christina and Seth living in Dubai who got married in Stockholm, Sweden. All of their wedding planning was done from Dubai, a world away from Sweden!
Photographer Jessica Lund captured all the beautiful details of their special, day… This awesome couple lives in Dubai and met five years ago at a party held by mutual friends. Seth is English but proposed to Christina in Swedish on one knee last years midsummers eve. How romantic isn’t that?
Christina is a beautiful bride and the sweetest person. She wore her mother´s grandmother´s shoes from 1918 and the beautiful veil has been worn by different brides from four generations.
Before the ceremony Seth had a fantastic lunch with his friends at Villa Pauli whilst Christina spent her morning in her childhood area where she was born.

Five years ago Andy left England to go travelling and shortly after Amanda set off on her own travels from Sweden… Our paths first crossed in New Zealand and that was the beginning of a fantastic journey together. For months we explored the world and new cultures together and when it was time to return home we brought home the openness, colours and the feeling that each day is an adventure. We still both share this mentality today and so we wanted it to be reflected in our wedding.
After much traveling Andy and Amanda eventually settled down in England but decided on Stockholm as the destination for their dream wedding…

Following on from their FAB steam train pre wedding party, I am so excited to share Cissy and Andy’s stunning wedding in Sweden, photographed by the lovely Christine Meintjes.
“Cissy is a Swedish girl, but her family moved to the UK when she was young. She went off to study Mandarin and ended up working in China where she still lives. Andy on the other hand, is a UK boy, but also ended up working in China.
“And the question: How did these two meet each other in China? Well, as I heard in the speeches, Andy was recruiting people for a position at the company he was working for. Then someone told him about Cissy, a beautiful blond Swedish girl, and even though he was only allowed to employ Chinese girls, he still met up with her. And that’s how their story began.”

I have a special place in my heart for Sweden since spending family holidays there during my childhood, so when I saw Cissy and Andy’s amazing Swedish steam train, pre wedding party captured by Christine Meintjes, I immediately asked her if I could share on Fly Away Bride…
“The day before the wedding, the couple invited me to join them, with all their guests, for a pre-dinner party at Cissy’s parents’ home in Uppsala. We enjoyed yummy Swedish meatballs and some other Swedish snacks while all the guests got to know each other.”
