Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ Oscar de la Renta 2014

I’m one happy camper this Friday. I’m in New Orleans for the first time, have Lindsay’s bar recommendations all lined up, tickets for Jazz Fest and am meeting some good friends, so I’m pretty content. I’m betting lots back home are pretty happy too seeing as it’s a long weekend! This past FAB week took in some diverse bridal fashion, including controversial numbers from Reem Acra, flowing creations from Christos and colourful Romona Keveza gowns. We saw a destination wedding in the lavender-covered hills of Italy with fabulous scenery and an Italian castle venue, a summer inspiration board in gorgeous peach, blush and green, and we also found another country in Europe that makes it easy to legally have a destination wedding there- magical Malta.

Friday Fashion ✈ Oscar de la Renta 2014

A LOT of sweetheart necklines, organza sequin embroidery, Chantilly lace, pleated silk trumpet and ruffle skirts… This collection has fussiness to spare but thankfully there are several beautifully austere gowns to counteract this. The touch of colour in the first two dresses came with tulle wraps and embellished full skirts, while the third gown below is my personal favorite- I just love both the shape of this creation and its satin slightly structured finish.

Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ Vintage Engagement Rings

Hello all! Hope you’re all well and looking forward to the weekend ahead. Personally I have had a very busy week in work so I am lucky enough to have today off. I am going to a wedding, I haven’t been to one since last year so I’m looking forward to it. I have decided to wear this French Connection dress with nice shoes and a big gold necklace, the weather is nice so hopefully I can get away with the aqua marine colour. This week has been busy in Fly Away Bride and we have seen some amazing posts from two of my favourite girls so here is the round up of the week. On Monday we saw some beautiful wedding stationery. We showed you what comes in a wedding invitation suite and more importantly, the purpose of the different elements of an invitation suite. We divided the concept of an invitation suite into three separate categories; 1) Pre-Wedding Stationery, 2) Wedding Day Stationery and 3) Post Wedding Stationery. The next post on Monday was the start of our posts on New York bridal week. We looked at the gorgeous Titania Collection by Alice Temperley.

In our first post on Tuesday we saw an intimate wedding in Chianti. The couple, Claire and Brady, travelled to Italy for this intimate wedding in Chianti with just 20 family and friends. Cristiano Brizzi Photography was there to capture the day.

Our next post on Tuesday was the next post on bridal week. We looked at the Jenny Packham Spring Summer 2014 collection.

On Wednesday we saw some beautiful Jenny Packham accessories that have been designed to go with the dresses above. The beautiful headpieces, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, belts, hair combs and headbands are described in various shades such as crystal, light topaz, gunmetal, cinnamon, antique and golden opal. I ADORE!

Wednesday also saw some more wedding dresses by Marchesa SS 2014 Bridal Collection.

Yesterday we saw a destination wedding in Portugal. The couple, Mary and Barry, are from Donegal in Ireland and decided on a destination wedding in Portugal as a lot of their friends are from all around the world. The gorgeous images are by Piteira Photography.

The second post of the day yesterday covered the Monique Lhuillier Spring Summer 2014. This collection has left me seriously debating what bridal style I’d really go for.. to the floor or above the knee. A feature of this collection is the bridal cover up, a range of beautiful bridal coats, capes and shawls that complete the entire look. Stunning. This one is my ultimate favourite.

Over the last year I have met a lot of women that have been engaged and their engagement rings are vintage, antique or vintage style. One of my good friends Claire got engaged back in February and she has had such a hard decision between three different vintage engagement rings she has found, and I wouldn’t blame her. They are stunning! She got it down to three and she is finding it very difficult to choose one, dying to see what she chooses! I started researching vintage/antique engagement rings and I was blown away by how beautiful some of them are. Here are some of my favourites.

Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ Polka Dot Dresses

Hi all! Happy Friday. It’s a wet and miserable one in Dublin, but because it’s the weekend we won’t complain! I have been so busy with work over the last few weeks (months!) that Amy was kind enough to write my posts the last few Fridays, I’m still busy but I missed writing so I’m delighted to be here writing this. On Monday Amy shared the type of wedding decor that has been on her mind, beautiful luminescent touches of opal, moonstone and mother of pearl.

Tuesday saw a romantic destination engagement shoot in the Algarve by photographers Matt + Lena Photography. The couple, Eamonn and Gemma got engaged on a beach under a cove in Albufeira and this is where the couple subsequently decided to have their wedding.

We saw some incredible keepsake wedding invitations on Wednesday. When we came across these wedding invites we knew we had to share their designs. Classic Wedding Invitations is an Australian based stationery company that create unique pieces: laser cut, pop-up, stand alone, puzzles and wooden ones, among others.

Yesterday Lindsay saw an amazing destination wedding in Santorini. The bright white and blue buildings provided a stunning back drop to this beautiful destination wedding. Steve and Cassie flew from Oklahoma to Santorini to have their intimate ceremony that was captured by Sarah Falugo Photography.

Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ Wedding Dress Details

Hello all! Hope you’re all well. It is a freezing, wet day in Dublin but we’ll keep going! I have spent my evenings this week pouring over fashion blogs, I cannot get enough. If I was given a euro for every time I clicked on a blog I would be a billionaire. Next week I’m planning a post on wedding guest atire, which I’m looking forward to so if any of you would like me to cover anything in particular let me know. This week we saw some fantastic posts, here’s a quick rundown. Monday saw some amazing Irish wedding venues. Amy is getting married and she wanted to share some venues she looked at in Ireland, she decided on not getting married in Ireland but she loved (as did we all!) the venues.

We saw a local wedding in France on Tuesday. The couple, Stan and Cecile, were featured on Fly Away Bride before, we posted their engagement shoot in Paris. Their lovely photographer, Emilie Iggiotti, traveled all the way from Canada to capture their big day.

Lindsay covered some beautiful boho wedding dresses on Wednesday. The dresses were by a Parisian boho wedding dress designer, Laure de Sagazan. If you are a lover of lace, capped sleeves and backless wedding dresses, this is the designer for you.

Yesterday saw Kate and Jason’s small intimate destination wedding in Tuscany. The Australian couple had their excellent photographer Lelia Scarfiotti shoot the day.

Friday Fashion ✈ Intricate Wedding Dress Details

The thing that really captures me the most about wedding dresses is everyone’s style and taste is different. It’s such a huge investment piece, and I always find it funny that you might go to a wedding and really not like the bride’s wedding dress, but to her it is the most amazing dress she has ever worn, and she’ll remember it forever. When researching my posts I always come across different things that catch my eye, be it lace detailing, embellishment or elaborate bows. Some of my favourite images are below. I was always so sure about what I wanted to wear when I get married but looking through all of the different photos it’s difficult to stick to one!

Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ Wedding Nails

Hi all and hope you had a great week. We are thrilled, thrilled, thrilled that it’s the long weekend. Loads of Paddy’s Day celebrating to be done, and we are going to talk about wedding nails and show you some great ideas! It’s been a busy few weeks in work so I’ll definitely be glad of an extra day this weekend. Here’s our Friday recap just for you. On Monday Lindsay shared some fab tips, taking into consideration the destination wedding guests that travel to destination weddings. Hopefully the tips will help make it (if possible!) more enjoyable for them. Tuesday saw an incredible venue for a wedding, on the edge of the Grand Canyon.

What an amazing place to have your wedding and amazing memories to cherish. Amy shared a beautiful post inspired by Hydrangeas with us. She included both blue and pink hydrangea-inspired boards, beautiful.

Yesterday saw a winter wonderland destination wedding in Austria. The couple are Irish and decided on Zell am See as they love the skiing town. They had a fantastic wedding photographer Claire Morgan to help them capture the memories.

I recently told someone that when I get married I want to have amazing red nails. I think there is something really beautiful about a splash of colour beside a brand new white wedding dress. I’m not talking about long, pointy nails like Rhianna below.

Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ Dolce and Gabbana

Happy Friday everyone! So happy it’s the weekend. Does anyone have anything exciting planned? I have a dinner party to go to tonight and then a birthday party tomorrow night so a weekend of fun begins today. The excellent recent show by Dolce and Gabbana has been on my mind lately, but more on this below! We started off the week by outlining the basic requirements for getting married in Europe’s most popular destinations, it gives advice and recommendations on all things getting married in Europe! We had another post on Monday which was one of my favourite wedding dress posts for a while. I adore these dresses by French designer Rime Arodaky. They are so beautiful, elegant and laid back.

On Tuesday we looked at an amazing Parisian engagement session. The couple, Stan and Cecile chose Montreal based destination wedding photographer, Emilie Iggiotti to capture their moments.

On Wednesday we looked at some amazing wedding traditions in Greece. Yesterday we looked at a destination wedding in France. This wedding was in the beautiful setting of Provence. The couple’s photographer Daniele Lanci captured the day beautifully.

Friday Fashion ✈ Dolce & Gabbana

I could not go by this week without writing about one of the most amazing Dolce & Gabbanna shows ever. I thought their collection was incredible. It was opulent and romantic. I can’t go through all of the looks I loved as we would be here all weekend! I thought I’d focus on the amazing red designs. The finale is what caught my eye. It was incredible, it sparkled with glittering jewels, lace and embellishment. All topped off with gold crowns.

Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ Monique Lhuillier

It’s been a lovely chilled out and happy week in Fly Away Bride, I was off work for a few days which was nice and I just got news that two good friends of mine got engaged and it has made my month! A HUGE congratulations to Claire Quinn and Brian Macken. So delighted and thrilled for both of you! I’m having a look at some stunning Monique Lhuillier gowns below but first our weekly recap. On Monday our FAB guide took a look at some destination wedding etiquette. It looked at various things that will arise such as gifts, invitations, and entertainment among other things. Tuesday saw an engagement session in Barcelona. The couple, Dani and Cristina, met online and spent a few months getting to know each other before finally agreeing to meet up and then falling in love. When they got engaged they went to the church to register the wedding, the priest then went on to tell them, that they were both baptised in the same church, on the same day, in the same service by the same priest! Amazing story!

On Wednesday we took a look at a beautiful wedding in Italy. Marzia and Arta are from Italy and Finland, and their wedding was held in the small town of Teramo, on the eastern side of Italy- in the middle of the country, opposite Rome. Their photographer Cinzia Bruschini really captured their Venetian style wedding.

Yesterday saw a Valentines post without a hint of red! We looked at some romantic antique shades- dusty cocoa, creams, bleached peach and delicate rose.

Friday Fashion ✈ Monique Lhuillier

Monique Lhuillier is famous for her stunning gowns that grace the red carpets and stunning wedding dresses that some brides are lucky enough to wear. Last Saturday New York fashion week saw Monique’s Autumn/Winter 2013-2014 (I know Spring has only just sprung but I couldn’t help it!) I love her designs and can only dream of wearing one of them some day.

Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ The Mulberry Willow

Happy Friday everyone! I’m excited for the weekend ahead, lots of friends to meet and prosecco to drink. Tomorrow I’m helping friends cut down trees and help them get their site ready for building their new home (for all of you who know me well you will find this hilarious.) The fresh air will do me good! We had a busy week here in Fly Away Bride and we’ take a look at the Mulberry Willow bag I’m obsessed with at the moment below. But first, our recap starts with a destination wedding guide to Florence covering legalities, venues and vendors for those thinking about a wedding there. Tuesday we looked at a beautiful destination wedding in Rome. The photographs were thanks to Claudia from Rossini Photography, she really captured the beauty of Rome.

Wednesday saw us look at things that need to be addressed when getting married abroad. The post looked at legal weddings in Europe. It outlines the basic requirements for getting married in Europe’s most popular destinations, France, Italy, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Malta, Austria and one African country, Morocco.

Yesterday saw a bright and sunny destination wedding in Costa Rica. I love, love, love the brides dress! So simple and elegant.

Friday Fashion ✈ The Mulberry Willow

I’m not one for designer bags. I’m not one for bags in general. I like them and I’ll buy one if I like one, which is usually in Zara (I’m slightly obsessed) but I’ve always preferred spending my money on clothes and jewellery. Or so I thought until I saw this beauty. I know I’m a bit slow on the uptake on this one as it’s been spoken about at length for a few months but it was seen again on the Spring Summer Mulberry catwalk and I WANT ONE! Not only is it a bag with enough space to fit a spare pair of shoes, make up, magazines and gym gear (OK, maybe not all of the above) but it has ANOTHER detachable bag. The front pocket zips off and transforms into a detachable oversized Mulberry clutch. Get saving….

Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ Giambattista Valli

Hi all! Happy Friday and hope you’re all well. What are you up to for the weekend? I’m really looking forward to a relaxing time as I haven’t done that in ages. I’m going to go home to my parent’s house for the weekend and put my feet up, kick back and relax. On Sunday I’m going to see a few good friends of mine, we don’t get to see each other as often as we’d like so that will be nice, it will be a ‘ladies who lunch’ affair with little scones, fairy cakes and sandwiches cut up into triangles, with a few glasses of prosecco to help wash it all down. The last few weeks in Fly Away Bride have been busy and this one was no exception. We look at the fabulous designer Giambattista Valli below, but first we relive our week starting with Lindsay’s follow-up to our great post about a destination wedding versus a wedding at home with a guide to planning your dream destination wedding. The guide goes through what country to get married in, legalities, budget and more. It will be loads of help to all you newly engaged peeps out there!

On Tuesday we looked at a destination engagement session in Paris. The couple from Canada had always wanted to visit Paris so decided it was the perfect location to capture their engagement photos.

I never thought I could love a place so much as Paris, it’s somewhere you can go back again and again and not get bored. So many things to see and do. I’m quite proud of the photo I took of the Eiffel Tower, what do you think?

Amy showed a beautiful colour inspiration post on Wednesday. She chose a dusky pink and pale green colour combination.

Yesterday saw a stunning destination wedding in Positano, Italy. The bride and groom chose Positano as their wedding destination because of a John Steinbeck essay entitled Positano. I think you’ll agree, their photos are quite beautiful and dramatic.

Friday Fashion ✈ Giambattista Valli

Every day I pore over the pages of the glossy fashion magazines and online fashion blogs and I never get bored of it. My boyfriend always asks that, do I ever get bored, but how could I?! I think it’s amazing how everyone has their own style, whether it’s following trends that are popular at the time, or wearing vintage pieces mixed in with the high street, or just wearing one piece that they know will get them noticed. I love it! I know I spoke about Paris Couture last week but I couldn’t help speak about one other show that really caught my eye. Giambattista Valli. His designs are divine and not only are the dresses to die for, his detailing with shoes and cinched in waists are incredible.

Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ Elie Saab

Hi everyone! Hope you had a great week and you’re looking forward to the weekend ahead. We had a freezing week in Ireland. For all of you in America, it probably wasn’t quite as cold as your winters but we enjoyed the snow flurries while it lasted! Today we look at Paris Couture Week and Elie Saab designs below. First though we look back at the week: on Monday we saw amazing wedding venues in Santorini. It’s somewhere I have always wanted to go, maybe this year will be the year I’ll take a trip to Greece. Look at these amazing photos, doesn’t it make you want to hop on the next plane?

On Tuesday we saw a beautiful destination wedding in Italy by the amazingly talented wedding photographer Andrea Tappo. The photos really captured the mood of the day.

Wednesday saw an amazing colour post that looked at the green of the emerald stone. You can inject colour into so many different aspects of your wedding, and what a beautiful colour to choose.

Yesterday saw a dream destination wedding in Ibiza and the amazing photos were taken by photographer Gypsy Westwood. The couple, Greg and Debbie flew all the way from New Zealand with their closest family and friends to celebrate on the beautiful island. They chose the island as their wedding destination for Greg’s love of music and Debbie’s love of the dreamy, relaxed beaches and gypsy like surroundings.

Friday Fashion ✈ Elie Saab

This week saw couture week in Paris. Designers such as Chanel, Versace, Giambattista Valli and Christian Dior all showed off their amazing designs. One of our favourites here at Fly Away Bride is Elie Saab. He never fails to impress and leaves us all wishing one day we could wear one of his gowns. He showed off the amazing lace and crystal encrusted designs in different colours such as Red, Pink, Black and Mauve and of course finished the show with a huge wedding dress.
