Because springtime seems to have come early to New York City this year, let’s say goodbye to winter by celebrating a beautiful outdoor engagement shoot by Carmen Santorelli Photography. Beth and Curt met in medical school in Chicago and will be marrying this September in Long Island, NY. Photographer Santorelli says she wanted “to capture the couple’s playful love, and also the beauty of New York in the winter.” Nothing says winter in New York like ice-skating at the Wollman Rink at Central Park!

Today we have the loved up engagement of Olya and Denis who flew to Budapest, Hungary from Russia for the first leg of their pre-wedding mini moon and a surprise engagement shoot! Gabby from En Route Photography tells us a bit more about this lovely couple…
Olya is one of those girls who feels like your best friends after just a couple of emails. In her first email she explained to me that she is from St. Petersburg, Russia, that she is getting ready to marry her best friend and love of her life Denis, and how she’d love to suprise him with a photoshoot in Budapest! Dennis and Olya will had a very small wedding with only close family and friends and as they did not have a photographer on the day, she wanted to have some images taken on their pre-wedding honeymoon in Budapest to capture their love and this very exciting time in their lives. On the day of the shoot we showed up all excited in the Buda castle. After sipping some iced lattes and hot teas, we ventured out to discover the hidden gems the location had to offer. They moved like pros in front of the camera and I’m so grateful to have been able to share this special experience with them.

I love engagement shoots and even more so destination engagement shoots, I think it’s so nice for a couple to visit a city or destination that they love and is special to them and have their time there documented. All too often on a romantic break you return with one picture of you, one picture of me, maybe a few of the two of you that the waiter took on request but very rarely a really beautiful picture of you as a couple. By planning a destination engagement shoot while on a romantic break or a wedding planning trip you’re sure to have beautiful pictures of the two of you as a couple to treasure for years to come and remind you of your time in that special destination. Randy and Diana obviously had the same thoughts when they took advantage of their friends wedding celebrations in Paris in October 2011…
Randy and Diana had just gotten engaged when friends of theirs announced that they would be married in Paris Fall of 2011. Excited for the international affair, they decide to take advantage of gorgeous French backdrop, and make their engagement portraits in the City of Lights…

They chose international wedding photographer Jacquelyn Poussot to make their photos in the gorgeous Musee de L’orangerie – home of one of the most exquisite collections of Claude Monet’s Water Lilie paintings. The oval shape gallery lends itself to the most dynamic backdrop… even for Paris.

I’m really thrilled to introduce Konrad from Konfral Photography as the newest of Fly Away Bride’s sponsors. Based in London, Konrad travels all over the UK and internationally to capture beautiful images of couples on their very special day. Originally from Poland Konrad is used to shooting in all weather extremes perfect for destination weddings…
Can you tell us a little about yourself, your company and what you offer?
Hi! My name is Konrad a.k.a “Konfral” and I’m a London based lifestyle, portrait and wedding photographer. I do most of my work on location rather than in studio. I love working outdoors, especially in the evenings when all the city lights come to life.

What is your approach to photographing weddings and what is your preferred style?
I always aim to tell the story of a wedding day from start to finish, which is why I almost exclusively take “full day coverage” assignments. I would describe my style as contemporary, relaxed and with a cinematic touch. I love capturing unstaged moments, genuine emotions, and beautiful details. I try to blend into the background on the wedding day itself, and document the story as it unfolds, but I’ll give you lots of creative ideas and some posing direction on the pre-wedding session. I love bridal portraiture, which probably comes across quite strongly in my portfolio.

Where are you based and what cities/countries are you available to for work in?
I am based in London, but prepared to travel almost anywhere for a good photo opportunity. So far, I’m booked to shoot in Paris and Prague this Summer and also do some work back in my “old country” – Poland.

Finally I have to share, today, well today I am very very excited, our wedding is exactly three months from now! Happy excited butterflies!
Have a lovely weekend! I hope the sun is shining wherever you are.
When I saw Caught The Light’s sneak peek of Ludgero and Jessica’s engagement shoot in ‘Gay Paree’ with the Eiffel Tower in the background I immediately emailed Chloe to ask if I could feature the shoot on Fly Away Bride. Where could be a more perfect location for a destination engagement shoot than Paris!
Jessica was living in France, whilst Ludgero was in Australia, so it was only fitting that we went to Paris for their pre-wedding photos before they moved to London to share their first home together.

I was super excited when these photographs arrived in my inbox! The first of three engagement shoots which were won by our readers… the very talented Ana Lui very kindly offered free engagement shoots to three lucky readers at a location of their choice in Ibiza.
Tamarin and Peter are planning their wedding in Ibiza for June 2012 and travelled over to Ibiza recently for a wedding planning trip to meet their suppliers and also chose to meet up with Ana for their shoot.
I really love these images, Tamarin and Peter look like they had great fun on the shoot. They even braved the sea at the end of their shoot, I’m sure the waters were very chilly this time of year!

The photo shoot was great, Ana is excellent at putting you at ease. I was really worried about having ‘natural’ photos taken, I am usually the ultimate poser in photos, and was worried about all the bits I don’t like about myself being on show. Luckily Ana is so brilliant at capturing emotion and at making you feel beautiful! I am so happy with the photos her general direction was really useful but being able to play around and be ourselves was so much fun!
