Fridays Fab 5

First Touch_337

This week, after a love shoot in Paris, we waved goodbye to a wonderful 2011 with some New Years Eve Wedding Inspiration and said hello to 2012 with our great friend and make – up artist extraordinaire, Ellie Balfe with tips on how to re-create Aisling’s make-up from our Sail Away Inspiration series.

On Tuesday we started back on our travels with a snowy engagement session in Cambridge, United Kingdom and featured a gorgeous elopement in Rome on Wednesday.

Yesterday we shared Dan and Michelle’s intimate wedding in Paris which brings us, very quickly might I add, back to Friday again and our FAB 5 picks for the week.

Blog trotting this week we came across a few great destination and travel inspired weddings and we wanted to share…

A Rustic Wedding in Romania – So pretty

A Nautical Inspiration Shoot – Nice Ideas

Winter Bridal Shoot in Lapland – Squeezing the last out of Christmas!

Hong Kong to Maui, Hawaii – Maui is so beautiful

Retro-Chic Wedding in Florence – Seriously gorgeous!

On last weeks FAB 5 we took a look back at some of our favourite posts from 2011. This week.. we are very much looking forward with 5 FAB trends that we think will we can count on for the 2012 destination wedding!

1. Tangerine! ✈ Yep.. Bright and wonderful. Tangerine Tango is the 2012 Pantone Colour of the Year and we can’t wait to see it and it’s various tones, shades and forms popping up in weddings this year. While the colour itself is a little more like the BM dresses below, the use of actual tangerine fruit as place cards is just yum.

2. Patterned Bridal Party Attire ✈ Mix and Match has been popular enough over the years in the States but like a lot of things, it is a trend that has only recently started picking up in Europe and further afield. So along with mixing and matching this year, we have a hunch that patterns are going to be the next fashion step forward in 2012… What do you think?

Destination Wedding in France ✈ Michelle and Dan’s Parisian Wedding by Beatrice de Guigne Photography

Beatrice de Guigne-Michelle and Dan._290

We are back in “La Ville-Lumière” toady to share the small and intimate family wedding of Michelle and Dan. This Californian couple met at work, known to you and I as the happiest place on earth.. magical Disneyland. Beatrice de Guigne from BgD Photography is the lady behind the beautiful photography and my personal favourite has to be Michelles “Look… no hands” picture on the Eiffel Tower Carousel…. All that practice in Disneyland, the girls a pro!

We wanted to know all the details and Michelle was more than happy to oblige. “We started dating in June 2007 so we have been together almost 4 1/2 years. We had talked about getting married before, and even looked at rings together. He still wanted to surprise me so he bought the ring without me knowing it, telling me he was planning on getting it later in the year. We went for a walk through Disneyland Park, and he pulled out the ring box right in front of the castle! He didn’t get down on one knee, and I think I am even grateful, because I would have been embarassed. I of course said yes and I was very happy to have the ring so much earlier than I had planned. Then we had to drive to my parents house to tell them the news!”

Something Borrowed…

Covet Stock_157

Like the rest of us, did you drool over the stunning Temperley gown and fur coat from our “Sail Away With Me” shoot and then melt when you laid your eyes on the timeless gold sequined dress also featured? Well then, let me tell you all about the boutique they came from and how it has inspired today’s post. Covet – The Borrowers Boudoir located on the top floor of Dublin’s stylish Powerscourt Centre, is what I like to describe as a little bit of heaven on earth. My dream of owning a wardrobe home to even one masterpiece created by Alexander McQueen, Rachel Gilbert or Marchessa, will sadly (thanks to the taxman) remain just that.. a dream. But you know what, it’s absolutely fine. Covet is the light shining oh so bright at the end of a dark tunnel. Now, all of us wannabe models, actresses and superstars also have the option of dressing up in a gorgeous gown that was made to walk the red carpet for a special occasion, without having to worry about selling our granny’s to cover the credit card repayments. Yep, the best bit is that all of this “luxury on loan” comes in at 10% or less of the retail price.

We were really keen to have Covet involved in the styled shoot because this boutique is exactly the sort of Destination Friendly Inspiration that we want to keep featuring. They have an exquisite range of dresses suitable for bridal wear, especially if your dream dress is something a little bit vintage or just off the runway. You can arrange for a private appointment where you don’t just get the dress altered to fit like it was made for you, but also receive savvy styling tips on how to create the whole look, compliments of their team of fashion experts. Why not hire and save yourself the hassle of worrying how to pack “The Dress”… that you only plan on wearing once anyway. If, on the other hand, it is really important for you to hang on to your wedding dress for sentimental reasons, then think of your bridesmaids. I know I certainly would have zero objections to wearing Chanel for a day. Female guests will also appreciate being made aware of such “practical indulgence”. So today, you can feast your eyes on some of Covet’s collection in Dublin and because we love this idea so much and love our readers from all around the world, we have found boutiques and online shops of a very similar nature in other cities across the globe…

Meet Claudia and Hugo who were married in a very small and romantic church in Cedofeita – Porto only a few weeks earlier.
