We have been lucky enough to get the opportunity to work with Brosnan Photographic, one of the best wedding photographers in Ireland, several times since we started out. Not only does Christina Brosnan take seriously beautiful photos but she is also super friendly and easy to work with. We can’t wait to share our latest Paris photoshoot collaboration (amazing!) but in the meantime we’ll have a chat with Christina and see what she’s up to:
Can you tell us a little about Brosnan Photographic and what you offer?
I offer wedding and engagement photography for couples who want natural photos. My couples get a mix of film and digital images. Why film? Because it’s creamy, dreamy, and rocks my world. I take a limited number of weddings each year so all my couples get my full attention. I also only shoot weddings and engagements as it’s something I’ve really come to love to shoot.
What is your approach to photographing weddings and what is your preferred style?
My style is natural, soft, and elegant. My main goal is to let my couples relax and not notice me snapping in the background. I prefer natural moments over anything staged. I also adore capturing all the details that couples put so much thought into.
Where are you based and what cities/countries are you available to work in?
I’m mostly based in Ireland (and sometimes in Chicago) but I travel worldwide for weddings.
Do you have any tips for couples on how to get the most out of their wedding photography?
Tons! And I love sharing my ideas. But to keep it short start by finding a photographer whose style you love and matches the feel of your wedding. Then be sure you feel comfortable with that photographer. The more comfortable you are with them will result in more natural photos.
Do you have any advice for couples planning a destination wedding?
Don’t feel you’re stuck to local vendors. Of course it’s great when you can but if you’re not happy with what you’re finding look outside the area. Most people are happy to travel. But it’s a good idea to have someone who does know the area or can speak the language that can help either with the overall planning or on the day. Language barriers and the unknown can be stressful.
Do you shoot engagement sessions?
Absolutely! I encourage it for all my couples. It’s a great way to get comfortable with your photographer and how they shoot.
Any advice for couples planning an engagement session?
Dress up a little more than you normally would, have your hair and makeup trials the same day as your shoot, and pick a location that reflects you as a couple and that you’re comfortable with.
Can you tell us a little more about you- how you became a photographer and your infuences?
I knew I’d be a photographer from my first photography class in highschool. I grew up just outside Chicago where I earned my degree in Photography before heading to Paris to study an extra year. I idolized photographers like Annie Liebowitz, Helmut Newton, and Paolo Roversi. I knew I wanted to photograph people. I just didn’t realise it’d take me into weddings! That was partly influenced by my own wedding.
Have you got any exciting plans you’d like to tell us about?
I’m always looking for my next big project. But mostly this year I’m looking forward to concentrating on the beautiful weddings I have lined up. Especially heading home to Chicago, the Dominican Republic and France for some shooting in the sunshine!
We are really looking forward to seeing more weddings from Christina on the blog, and we highly recommend that you check out more at Brosnan Photographic, on Facebook and on Pinterest, where the prettiness continues.
