When should brides start looking and shopping for their bridal dress if they are planning on a vintage wedding dress?

There is no set time needed for buying a vintage wedding dress. Unlike bridal boutiques you will not have to order your dress within a specific time. The time-line will be dictated by whatever the bride is comfortable with. She could pop into us a month before the wedding and find her perfect dress or make an appointment a year before and we could source something specific for her if we don’t currently have in what she has in mind.

Johanna Johnson Templar 2011 Bridal Collection

I discovered Australian designer Johanna Johnson about a year ago while looking for accessory ideas for my own wedding, the minute I saw her designs I was hooked. I have been swooning over her creations ever since and her 2011 Templar collection is no different. Her Templar collection is the embodiment of Old Hollywood Glamour but with an enchanting embellished twist!

“Johanna was inspired by the fairytale of early medieval jewelry; the idea of being covered in precious gems and fine fabrics from far off lands.”

Elie Saab Spring/Summer 2011 Bridal Inspiration

I think it’s fair to say that Mila Kunis was the winner of the style stakes at the Oscars this year waring a beautifully romantic Elie Saab gown from the Couture Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. The lavender chiffon gown with tiered lace detailing and grosgrain ribbon waist accentuated her stunning figure to perfection!

Photograph sourced from Little Bits of Lovely Blog

The gown is so pretty and so perfect for a destination wedding it inspired me to take a look at the full couture collection, and I was not disappointed…

These dusty pink dresses would make s stunning alternative to the traditional white wedding gown.

Ellie Balfe FAB Sponsor Spotlight ✈ Guest Blogger

Ellie_Balfe_03

I am thrilled to introduce to you Ellie Balfe, an award winning professional makeup artist and our newest sponsor and guest blogger on Fly Away Bride…

Where are you based and what cities/countries are you available to for work in?

I am based in Dalkey in Co. Dublin but will travel anywhere. Planes, trains and motorways are my friends!

Can you tell us a bit more about the person behind the business, how did you come to work in the wedding industry?

I came to the wedding industry via the inevitable route for a makeup artist – my friends asking me to do it for their weddings! I was worked as the head artist for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and then as an artist for Space NK in London and these positions introduced me to many brides-to-be. As I was working in the fashion industry at the same time, my focus was (and still is) on precision and perfection in makeup. In order for it to be photographed well, it must be the best it can be. There is no room for mistakes or bad blending; I love flawless skin and I think my reputation spread via word of mouth when I started doing weddings. I have since had the pleasure of looking after lots of brides both in and out of the public eye. I never get tired of a wedding day and my own is in the planning too!

Rome Bride ✈ Pretty Pretty Parasols

I have been toying with the idea of having parasols for myself and my bridesmaids at our Rome wedding this Summer. While we are getting married indoors and we’re hosting our dinner reception indoors we are having a drinks reception outside before the meal where hopefully the sun will still be shining and no doubt it will be very warm! I wasn’t sure if it would look too fussy but as soon as I saw this image from the BHLDN website my mind was made up, and now the search is on for the perfect parasols to keep us cool in the Roman sunshine…

Rangoli FAB Sponsor Spotlight ✈ Special 10% Discount Offer!

5449519648_89f97b22d3_o

Today I’m thrilled to welcome our newest sponsor Rangoli. Aisling from Rangoli is one very talented lady designing and producing stunning bespoke accessories for brides-to-be and their bridal party…

Can you tell us a little about your company and what you offer?

I set up my business Rangoli in 1998. I design bespoke bridal jewellery and hair accessories. Some designs are made from very fine crochet and others from woven beadwork. I also offer advice on styling your bridal look.

Where are you based and what cities/countries do you deliver to?

I am based in The Design Tower in the Dublin Docklands – I love my large showroom with vaulted ceilings! When clients visit, I spend time finding out all about their wedding plans. Together we pore over pictures, fabric samples and discuss hairstyles…it’s proper girly fun! Sometimes my job even involves suggesting wearing less accessories. I feel that bridal accessories should complement rather than take centre stage. For international enquiries or those unable to visit my showroom, we plan and discuss ideas by phone and email. So I deliver to anywhere in the world really!
