Get ready for blue skies and glamour today in this couple’s beautiful destination celebration. Mary and Barry are from the same county in Ireland, Donegal, but travelled half way across the globe to Australia before they ended up meeting each other! They actually met in the lift of an apartment building in Sydney, far from home indeed. The couple wanted a wedding abroad as their friends are from all over the world and would have to travel anyway. Since they are both based in London and share a love of good food, sunshine and wine, a destination wedding in Portugal was a natural decision- incorporating all of their loves without having to travel too far. “We basically wanted a week’s holiday with our mates, and if we had the wedding at home that wouldn’t have happened.” Well said we think! Weddings are never easy decisions. Well, deciding to marry the one you love usually isn’t a difficult decision, but exactly how to do it is a different story. Our gorgeous couple today, Kate and Brian, started planning a traditional wedding in Texas before changing their plans completely and eloping to Rome. We are thankful- if only for the completely selfish reason that we get to feature their beautiful elopement photos! Elegant and Romantic ✈ Destination Wedding in Greece
How about getting married on a Greek Island? I wouldn’t say no.. Anthea and Marty travelled half way across the globe, from Seattle in the very northwest US, to do just this. Their beautiful destination wedding in Greece was described by their photographer Anna Roussos as “elegant and romantic”. We love Anthea’s long veil and the soft, delicate pink used in her shoes, the roses and the bridesmaid dresses. We are a big fan of Ibiza when it comes to weddings as the photos always are so beautiful. All the blue sky definitely helps! Today we have Kate and Dan’s stylish Ibiza destination wedding at the Amante Beach Club with Ana Lui Photography. The combination of a gorgeous couple and an excellent photographer definitely works well here we think! Kate and Dan have to be up there amongst the most beautiful couples we have ever featured, which together with Kate’s Temperley dress and the fantastic Ibiza scenery as a backdrop makes this wedding pretty special.
Keep it Simple ✈ Pretty Italian Wedding
Happy Thanksgiving to all our lovely readers! Today we have a pretty Italian wedding that is suitable for the day that’s in it, with the talented Paolo Manzi. Giulia and Alessandro wanted a wedding celebration that was simple, with family and friends around them. They wanted to savor time with the people they love instead of getting stressed out over details. A great basis for a wedding we think! And lots of people will be doing just the same with their loved ones today.
Alessandro and Giulia met over ten years ago on a summer evening “while talking about music, travel and Gabriel Garcia Marquez”. One thing led to another.. and eventually to a proposal by Alessandro on a windy mountain in Patagonia! The couple wanted to avoid the usual stereotypes of a wedding and to model theirs more on a party with friends. They didn’t want to have a particular theme but did keep to a colour scheme of lime green for the reception.
Love in La Villa ✈ Destination Wedding in Italy
We are pretty excited today to be able to bring you this gorgeous destination wedding in Italy, and this time the bride and groom are all the way from Australia. Louise and Robert married in the beautiful setting of LaVilla Hotel in Piedmont, Italy, after a nine month romance. The day has been kindly showcased by their excellent photographer, Gianluca Adovasio, and really this couple are so stunning that I probably spent much longer than was necessary putting the photos together- it’s hard to take your eyes off them!

Rose Garden Celebration ✈ Destination Wedding in Marrakech
Hey guys! Hope you are all doing ok today. I’m exhausted after two days venue searching in Ireland, and how much fun was it!! Today we are in Morocco. Kathy and Rishi are based in London and had their dream destination wedding in Marrakech this past June. Boutique Souk, who are no strangers to Fly Away Bride were at their side to help with all of the planning and wow, did it turn out so beautifully. They chose a catholic ceremony at the Church of Marrakech followed by an open air reception in a Rustic Rose Garden Hotel in Marrakech – very romantic! Andreas Holm Photography captured the summer magic and we really can’t wait any longer to show you!
Wedding in Malta ✈ Venue Spotlight
To cheer you up at the start of the week we’d like to plant some ideas about having a wedding in Malta. This lovely island has a great array of potential wedding venues, and celebrating here makes a great opportunity to have your honeymoon in the same place (another advantage of a destination wedding!). Lots of things to do for you and your guests- go shopping and exploring in Valetta or take a trip around the harbor in one of the traditional dghajsa boats, so colourful and pretty! Or just relax in the Mediterranean sun, with an average temperature is 18ºC on the island.

A Nautical 4th of July Wedding Celebration
Happy 4th of July to all of our American friends and family today! We hope you have a great day and enjoy all of the celebrations! Today we have a styled shoot to share with with special thanks to four fantastic vendors from Marquette, MI. Recently that recently got together and opened up “I do. Wedding & Event Center” in the same area. Wren Photography, Double Trouble DJ’s, Live Life Events, and That Girl Amber wanted to showcase how truly wonderful their little city along Lake Superior is and how fantastic of a destination wedding location it can be! The patriotic colour scheme of red, white, and blue also fitted in nicely with their vision of creating something quite nautical as this shoot took place at the largest freshwater lake and we think it makes the perfect 4th of July wedding celebration.
Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ Umbrellas at Weddings
Morning all! How have we been this week?! Another busy one here at FAB and there are a few changes on the way but we will keep you up to date as always! My nice plan for the weekend is to do nothing but enjoy being at home for the first weekend in a long time and for the last weekend in our beautiful home in Clare. We sadly have to move in a few weeks and I’m not looking forward to it one bit. Anyway, back to today and before we move on to our FAB 5 and consider umbrellas at weddings, lets have a look at what’s been happening this week.
On Monday we had some bicycle wedding inspiration for those of you who enjoy the hobby. I must admit, this theme brought back some unwanted memories from my leaving cert, I couldn’t get Patrick Kavanagh and his bicycles going by in two’s and three’s out of my head! On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of sharing one fine and elegant wedding from the smoky mountains of Tennessee. On Wednesday, we had a surprise engagement in beautiful Rome. Yesterday then we were in beautiful Mexico for a wedding on the beach which brings us nicely to today, Friday.

Friday Fashion ✈ Umbrellas at Weddings
Maybe not the most weather appropriate post this morning given the beautiful sunny weather (you’d never think that there was such terrible flooding around Ireland earlier this week) but I love umbrellas and wellies and own lots of them… in all sorts of colours…. em, and they all match! It’s part of living in Ireland and the weather we get, when you can’t beat it, join it kind of attitude I suppose! Anyway, today’s post was really inspired by this beautiful wedding by Christina Brosnan. I love that this couple took on the weather and still had their out door wedding in the rain. I also really love the umbrellas and how they add to their beautiful pictures. Umbrellas also make beautiful props, hanging upside down from the roof and just like the bicycle theme on Monday, you could really use them as a motif through out your wedding day, on your invitations, napkins, mini umbrellas in drinks and so on. I will admit, it’s hard to find pretty umbrellas so I’ve rounded up 5 of my favourite from the Cath Kidston and Lisbeth Dahl ranges in the hope that it might inspire you to embrace the umbrella.
