Our real wedding today comes from the beautiful region of Lupiana in Spain, about an hour north east of Madrid. Silvia and Brett chose this gorgeous cloistered monastery there for their Spanish destination wedding as they fell in love with its unique and secluded antique feel. Originally from Spain and Australia, the couple planned the wedding from their home in England and knew when they found the monastery that it was exactly what they had in mind. The venue was able to accommodate both the ceremony and reception, and even adjusted to a change in plans when the scheduled outdoor ceremony had to be moved to the cloisters due to rain. AiS Fotografos was on hand to capture these beautifully atmospheric and touching portraits.

Moving the ceremony to the cloisters worked out to be a great choice in the end. The couple had a corner of the area dedicated to display a selection of framed wedding photos of their families, bringing everyone together by remembering their own marriage ceremony. Silvia and Brett chose a British style cake with a nod to the locals by the addition of two “Chulapos” cake toppers (the traditional Madrid dressed figures) accompanied by a bull and olive leaves, also Spanish symbols. Just before the dance, they put out a “piñata” as another traditional Spanish touch, which the guests had great fun trying to break.

I can really see why Silvia and Brett fell in love with this venue. Thanks to AiS Fotografos for sharing these photos and we look forward to featuring many more of their weddings. Back tomorrow with our FAB 5!
