Let me just say, if you are in need of a pick-me-up we have just the right medicine on this chilly winter’s day. Ramona and Paul got married last summer in Sorrento with 70 family and friends on a day where the sun couldn’t have shined any brighter. Moumou Photography were there to capture these gorgeous images and the bright blues of the sea and pool, green palm leaves, oranges and vibrant bougainvillea make this wedding an absolute feast of colour. More from Ramona below on the day’s details and her advice on planning a destination wedding. Enjoy!

How did you meet, and why did you pick a destination wedding?

“Paul and I met through mutual friends and got engaged while on holiday in Sorrento. We always loved the idea of a destination wedding and this was our second trip to Sorrento- it just felt right as we both loved it so much. We loved the idea of having a laid back wedding surrounded by our closest family and friends (and of course lots of sunshine!) Because we decided against having a planner, it took a lot of time effort googling and gathering all we needed to know. A friend of mine had got married in Sorrento and recommended Villa Antiche Mura for the reception. When we went to see it we were blown away as the view was so amazing. We were very lucky that Michele the manager acted as a planner for us and helped us with flowers, music and transport on the day.

We sent out save the dates 10 months before our wedding which included accommodation and flight details and our invites went out 4 months before the wedding. Most of our friends and family then made the trip into a holiday, staying for 7 – 10 days and going on day excursions to see Pompeii, Capri and the Amalfi coast. We loved the build up with everyone around. It’s not often you get to holiday with all your family and friends and the nights out were great! We had 70 people celebrate with us altogether.

What style did you go for, and what was your favorite part of the day?

I went for a modern style with a touch of vintage decor- vintage frames for table numbers and a bird cage for our guest book. We have absolutely no regrets and loved every minute of it! I would say if I had to pick one moment, the most memorable would be our ceremony in The Cloisters. It was so relaxed and personal and it was such a stunning place for a ceremony. We had a string quartet play as well which was amazing.

Any advice?

“Take your time planning and do plenty of research. If you can, take a trip beforehand to check out your venue and do your menu tasting so you have at least one less thing to worry about. Try give your guests information on flights, accommodation and as much as you can, even down to hairdressers for the ladies.”

Great advice from Ramona and thanks so much to her and to Moumou Photography for the amazing images.

What a fantastic space! I particularly love the images of the wedding guests with the sun and shadows filtering through the trees and the bride and groom having petals tossed around them. So pretty!
