Ann Marie and Steve married last August in Iceland after meeting eight years ago on a dating website. Their decision to travel from the UK to Iceland to marry was easy- a love of the tranquility and solitude, coupled with the fact that they wanted to elope made the island their perfect choice. Hobie and Halldóra from Arctic Weddings Iceland were there to capture their big day. This pair focus on the landscape as much as the bride and groom in their wedding photography- a definite must if you’re getting married in such a scenic place: sparkling white glaciers, black sand beaches, moss covered lava fields and blue hot springs are just a few of the attractions this beautiful island has to offer.

The couple’s ceremony took place in the historic church right next to the popular Skógafoss waterfall. After the ceremony they strolled around Skógafoss with Hobie and Halldóra capturing images of them amidst the beautiful landscape. Next up was the cliff next to Dyrhólaey which has beautiful rock formations as well as a clear view of Reynisfjara. Finally the group ended up at Reynisfjara with its amazing black sand beach and cave formed by the hexagon shaped rock pillars.

From Ann Marie: “We love the very remote parts of Iceland but decided to choose a location that wasn’t too far away from Reyjkavik as we were only staying in the country for a week and chose to stay at Glymur villas for the majority of our week. We came across very few challenges, apart from organising the paperwork and authenticating documents etc. We stayed at Hotel Ranga for our first two  nights who were extremely helpful. I think the best decision remade overall was to marry in Iceland! We also were so glad we asked Halldora to be our photographer. The best moment was going to Skogarfoss for some photos: a beautiful rainbow hit the waterfall just at the right second and shone beautifully! If we had any advice for couples traveling to Iceland for a wedding, it would be to ask Halldora to be your photographer; she and her partner Hobie made our day so special. They were very unobtrusive and had endless energy and enthusiasm. They drove out to meet us at our hotel the night before our wedding, and had clearly put so much effort into seeking good locations for our photo shoot! They drove us to some wonderful places and made our day a magical one. We will never forget their involvement in our wedding.”
