Good morning! Hope you had a lovely weekend? We have been busy here mulling over a new idea for wedding inspiration that we wanted to put out there today. Do you have a favorite artist or work of art? If so, why not think about being influenced by this for your theme- I have been thinking about Vincent Van Gogh and how it would be lovely to take inspiration from some of his gorgeous works. The warm colours would be a great base to work from, and of course he often used flowers as his subjects- including the famous sunflower and iris paintings. Here is some painterly wedding inspiration to feast your eyes on!

In my mind’s eye this wedding would be based around nature. The ceremony would be outdoors, in a meadow, in the evening- to capture that special hazy dusk light. It would have wildflowers and be rustic and colourful (and if possible it would be in Arles in the south of France where Van Gogh used to paint, with Poplar trees as a backdrop!).

Van Gogh was only a practicing artist for 10 years, during which he produced 2,100 works of art (anyone out there relate to that feeling if you’re trying to plan a wedding over the course of a few short months?!) On a final note: I stumbled over a quote when I was researching this post, it’s from a letter Van Gogh wrote to his brother. I think it is quite appropriate:

“I want to paint men and women with that something of the eternal which the halo used to symbolize… to express the love of two lovers by a wedding of two complementary colors, their mingling and apposition, the mysterious vibration of kindred tones. To express the thought of a brow by the radiance of a light tone against a somber background. To express hope by some star, the eagerness of a soul by a sunset radiance.”
