I believe in love at first sight. When it comes to a beach wedding in Naxos, Greece that is. I think I’m cut from the same cloth as Paul and Amanda. Their wedding was so in tune with their biggest loves in life, their families, their love of travel, good food and company and most importantly, each other. Organised to perfection by Mimmiki Liakou- Papoutsak and captured so expressively by Theodoros Chliapas Photography, it’s a dream destination wedding and luckily for you guys, I found it an impossible task to edit. Prepare to fall in love.
Forever curious, Amanda was so good to share their love story with us..
“Paul and I met while we were both working in a bookstore. He proposed to me in a field of dandelions at our favourite spot at the waterfront where we often had picnic lunches. We wanted a small wedding with only our closest family and friends. We also love travelling and have travelled together to Europe, China, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and New Zealand.”
“Our first trip together was to Greece and we loved Naxos so much that we decided it was the perfect location for our wedding. Naxos has beautiful beaches, amazing food and wonderful people. We found Mimmika, a personal wedding consultant online and when we chatted with her on Skype found her very friendly, organized and professional. We could not have planned such a beautiful wedding within our budget without her. She really took most of the stress out of the planning for us.”
“We didn’t have a particular style or theme in mind, we just wanted to make sure that every part of our wedding represented something that we loved and we didn’t compromise or sacrifice our vision. For us, the best decision we made was to hire a great photographer. Theodoros really went above and beyond for us. We felt comfortable having him and our wedding planner Mimmika share our day with us. Our only regret was not filming the ceremony and the antics of my two year old son!”
“The most memorable moment was walking through the streets of Naxos hand in hand and dancing on the waterfront promenade with the musicians playing beside us. It was amazing.”
As with most destination weddings, the fun didn’t stop after the wedding day and instead, continued into the following few days. Their day after session is so lovely and we just had to let you see it too!
Pretty sad that we have come to the end of this wedding to be honest. Hopefully, we will be lucky enough to feature some more work by Theodoros Chliapas Photography in the future but you will find plenty over on the blog to keep you amused until then. Special, heart felt thank you to Amanda and Paul for sharing their beautiful wedding in Greece with us today and we will leave you with some wise words from Amanda as she offers up some free advice to those of you planning a destination wedding right now.
“Be flexible! Rely on the good advice of your wedding planner. You barely remember the tiny details, unless there is a picture of them.”
