Ibiza. I know what you are thinking. Even I’ll admit that it hasn’t always been the first place that springs to mind when dreaming up beautiful, romantic, tranquil wedding destinations, but shame on me. The Mediterranean’s party capital has hosted some of my personal favourite weddings on Fly Away Bride and I’ve come to think this morning that maybe its reputation is in fact its secret weapon?! I don’t really care what it is, all I know is I want to see them coming. Today is a great day because not only are we featuring another destination wedding in Ibiza that makes me want to put on my high heels, Fusion Photography are also making their long, long, looong awaited Fly Away Bride debut. Great stuff.
Our FAB couple today are Jodi and Wade and in June of 2012, they travelled from the UK to Ibiza with close family and friends to tie the knot. Jodi spills the beans.
“We had been together for 9 years when Wade proposed, we knew each other a little bit before we started dating but met up in a local club in Lincoln, and have spent almost every day together since. The proposal didn’t go quite as Wade had planned and after I had spoiled the first attempt, Wade actually woke me up on a Monday morning at 6am with a beautiful engagement ring.”
“We choose Ibiza as a destination for our wedding as it somewhere that we had been before and just fallen in love with! Wade has been to Ibiza about 10 times and I’ve been there a few too. We just think the island has something magical about it, something you can only know when you’ve sat on the rocks at mambo and watched a perfect sunset. We also wanted somewhere that all of our family and friends could travel to easily, although it was important to us to get married in the sun, it was just as important to share it with the important people in our lives.”
“We decided to plan the wedding with the help of Candi at Ibiza Wedding Shop. We found Candi on the Internet but she was also recommended by a friend of a friend which was reassuring as it’s a big thing putting such a special day in someone else’s hands. We contacted Candi and then planned a trip out to Ibiza to view possible venues. We chose Casa Mila restaurant in Cala Tarida, and it was definitely the right choice! Candi arranged everything for us, service, flowers, decoration etc… We decided to take with us the favors, place cards, table plan and all outfits which was a challenge on Ryanair! We also decided to source our own photographers. Wade has an interest in photography and we didn’t want the normal, formal wedding pictures. We wanted to be able to hang our wedding pictures up on the wall like a piece of art. We were looking at photographers for quite a while and was starting to get a bit worried, until one morning we were looking on a wedding website and there were photos from a wedding shot in Ibiza by Fusion Photography. As soon as we clicked onto the link we instantly loved the style and difference in the photos! We emailed Fusion Photography and much to our delight they were free to do our wedding!”
“On our wedding day we got up together and had some breakfast. I then went off to Ibiza Rocks Pikes Hotel with my mum and bridesmaids! It was the perfect place to go and spend the day relaxing and getting ready. It’s the most beautiful place and you feel like you’re a million miles away from everything. Wade spent the day with the rest of the guests and best men chilling out around the pool! We were slightly unsure of the wedding being so late (6pm) but Candi was right, it was still so hot at 6pm that our guests might have melted if it had been any earlier. My nerves didn’t kick in until the music came on and i was about to walk down the stairs. I’m sure all brides panic about falling over! As I walked down with my mum I knew we’d made the right choice, with the sunshine and all our family and friends being there! Wade chose the perfect music for me to walk down to although it reduced everyone to tears. It was perfect! After we got married we went off for a short while to have our pictures taken, which was fun and gave us a little time alone!”
“I think the best decision we made was with the children! While we were having our photos taken the kids ate, and then when we were seated to eat the kids had a bouncy castle (yes we had a little go) and entertainer! This was great as it meant we could enjoy our meal and speeches without lots of kids running around and they loved it! We decided on a simple BBQ for food and it was amazing. Both of us are fussy eaters so this was great, and it went well with the fact we were trying to have a relaxed informal wedding! After the food we enjoyed drinks and good music with everyone.”
Speaking of children, they were the real party goers of the night…
“We would definitely recommend getting married in Ibiza. I would also recommend getting a Wedding Planner, as Candi took all the stress away and made sure everything looked great and ran smoothly! It was the best day and week of our lives!”
Talk about capturing the disco coloured lights of Ibiza in a few photo’s. Amazingly eye catching!
A massive thanks and congratulations to Jodi and Wade for allowing us to be part of their day and of course, what about Fusion Photography? Based between Ireland and Ibiza, they are no strangers to destination weddings and have flown as far as Oman to work their magic. Check out more of their work here. Thanks for stopping by!
