It’s our first birthday today here at Fly Away Bride and although it is a very happy occasion, we have some sad news. Pamela is unfortunately parting ways with us and well, I’d never have been able to write anything without shedding a tear or twenty so I’ll hand it over to her to say her farewells. Lindsay x
Fly Away Bride ✈ The Sad News…
It’s with great sadness that I am saying goodbye, Arrivederci, Au Revoir, Adios to Fly Away Bride and it’s wonderful readers today. As many of you know I was inspired to launch Fly Away Bride after planning my own destination wedding in Rome. I have loved every minute working on Fly Away Bride, from its conception, designing its identity to going live and of course above all being joined by Lindsay last year.
The highlights of the past year have to be our two amazing inspiration shoots, Sail Away With Me and A Mythical Tune and of course the birth of my beautiful baby girl Lily, who was with me in bump at both shoots. The excitement leading up the the shoots was palpable, we relished being able to bring our ideas and dreams to life, with huge thanks to some FAB wedding suppliers.
So why am I leaving, well I was working on Fly Away Bride while also running my design and letterpress business Farrell & Chase and I’m delighted that business has seen huge growth in demand over the past year, as a result, I have had to choose between the two, and design and print is my first love. As much as I wish I could continue with Fly Away Bride I just don’t have the time to dedicate to it, that I know it deserves and it is with a very heavy heart that I have to leave. But I am leaving Fly Away Bride in the very capable hands of Lindsay, Amy and Roisin who I know will continue to bring wonderful and inspiring destination wedding content to you every week.
And I promise this is not the last you’ve seen or heard of me on Fly Away Bride, I do plan to finally guest blog my full destination Rome wedding in the new year, it was after all the inspiration behind Fly Away Bride. Hopefully I’ll be back with some guest blogs in the future from Farrell & Chase and I will also be collaborating with Lindsay, Amy and Roisin on some amazing destination wedding shoots very soon, my lips are sealed!
I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped with Fly Away Bride over the past couple of years; real brides, vendors and suppliers, everyone who worked on the shoots and of course the FAB readers. It’s been a roller-coaster which I will always remember with great fondness.
So all that leaves me to do now, is to wish Lindsay, Amy and Roisin every success with Fly Away Bride, I know you’ll do a great job girls!
Fly Away Bride ✈ The Good News!
So there you have it, we are so sad to be losing Pamela and it has been the most incredible year getting to work alongside her. When I came on board as a business partner last year, I knew absolutely nothing about blogging only that I wanted to do it and at the time, I didn’t really just how much I would fall in love with it. There have been so many highlights. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know so many amazing wedding vendors across the world and more than anything else, I enjoyed producing two gorgeous photo shoots alongside Pamela and some of Ireland’s most creative wedding vendors. I’ve also gained a wonderful friend in Pamela and the only thing that makes me feel better about her leaving is that I know that I can pick up the phone to her even just to say hello. I actually don’t know what we will do without her mother Pauline and family friend Anne at the next photo shoot though – they made up the dream team for sure!
When Pamela told me that she couldn’t be a part of FAB anymore, I knew I didn’t want to give it up. I also knew I didn’t want to do it on my own. It’s a lot more fun when you have someone to bounce ideas off! I was so thrilled when Amy expressed an interest and I’m delighted that today, I can officially call her the other half of Fly Away Bride! Amy O’Neill is my soon to be sister in law but given that she has been around the past 15 years, she has long been considered family! Amy and my brother Gabriel live in Atlanta, GA and are in the throes of planning their own wedding next year and so she will be sharing some of her own wedding planning experiences soon. She is also an extremely talented print artist and I feel so lucky to have someone as creative as Amy on board. If you want to get in contact, her email is firstname.lastname@example.org
Another major highlight this year was a few months ago when one of my best buddies, Roisin also expressed an interest in writing for Fly Away Bride. Roisin Finnegan, without doubt is one of the most beautiful people I know. She has an amazing eye for style and impeccable taste and every Friday she will be giving great fashion advice on our Friday’s FAB 5. Amy and I are beyond excited that she is part of the team and look forward to Fridays so much now. If you have any fashion questions, just email email@example.com
Finally, I just want to thank all of our readers, real couples and our supporters over the past year – it’s been great sharing your stories and reading your lovely emails. We have plenty planned for the new year (including posting a few pics of ourselves, promise!) and we will keep you posted as we go. We will be back on Monday as usual but for now, I’m off to try find somebody who will sing me Happy Birthday.
Have a great weekend,
