Daniel and Jessica, from Australia, fell in love with Plitvice National Park in Croatia after seeing photographs online. They knew it was the place they wanted to marry and ended up eloping there last June. Croatia’s Plitvice Lakes are UNESCO heritage listed and a truly beautiful backdrop against which to marry. “We loved the natural beauty of the place, that it was basically unheard of in Australia and that it’s hardly been touched by humans.” Robert Pljuscec was there to capture the day.

Jessand Daniel were engaged for two years before getting married. Jess originally wanted to elope and come home to throw a party, however Daniel talked her out of it and they decided to tell their family and friends who were really supportive. They announced the news face to face to each of their family members. The couple found  Plitvice National Park online and immediately knew they wanted to marry there. They had no prior connection to Croatia and had never been before; all their research was done over the internet. The next step was to try and put it altogether. Jess got in contact with Maja from Croatian Moments wedding planners who helped arrange the park permits, flowers and most of the details.

The day was amazing and a small ceremony felt like it really suited the personalities of Daniel and Jess. Jess’s father had passed away two years prior to the wedding in a car accident. She decided to walk down the aisle by herself. “My father’s spirit was holding me on the day which was incredibly special to us.”  The couple wrote their own vows and exchanged them a top a cliff overlooking the stunning waterfalls, with champagne following the ceremony.

After the ceremony Robert and the couple spent a good four hours walking through the national park together capturing the best location shots.  Jessica’s dress and their overall look was quite vintage and they wanted Robert to create a feel throughout that would compliment that.  “Robert our photographer was so great to work with and he made the experience fun. We had great conversations with him throughout our almost four hour photo shoot. We absolutely adore our photos and can say with gratitude that our photos are like no one else’s we know! We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better location, weather and people to make our special day. We like to do things a little different and non-traditional.”
