Sara and Anthony travelled from the UK to the gorgeous Greek island of Mykonos to celebrate their destination wedding in style. Joined by friends and family, they exchanged vows at Santa Marina Resort and Villas under a beautiful gazebo overlooking the ocean, followed by an epic party until dawn. Sara and Anthony have glowing recommendations for their photography and videography team, Studio Phosart, who they feel really captured the essence of their big day.

“We chose to marry on Mykonos Island in Greece: I’m Persian and Anthony is Lebanese and we both live in London. Mykonos was in the middle of our geographical ties so that friends and family could join us from all over the world. The main reason we chose Mykonos though is because it is such a beautiful and fun island and we wanted a beautiful fun wedding! We both wanted a beach destination wedding. Our wedding venue was a beautiful luxury hotel on the beach of Ornos, Santa Marina Luxury Resort and Villas. The wedding was not on the beach but in the hotel’s grounds which overlooked the sea and had a private beach. The day before the wedding we also had a fun party with a beach barbecue at a restaurant called Hippie Fish, this was the ‘mini’ beach wedding part of the whole extravanganza!

Planning a destination wedding, with only six months to organise everything (and planning in the winter months when Mykonos is practically closed) was our biggest challenge. Neither of us had visited the island before we chose to get married there but our instincts knew this was the place to do it.  I went to Mykonos in March when we got engaged and it was a ghost town (the island does not really ‘open’ until the summer months). I was visiting venues which were under construction and had to close my eyes and picture what a wedding could be like in each, rather than seeing the ‘finished product’ venue.

Without a doubt we had the most amazing photography/cinematography team a bride and groom could ever wish for. Please please ask Studio Phosart for the testimonial we wrote for them- these guys are exceptional and every day I look at the pictures and videos they produced because they caught the whole essence of our wedding. On top of that we didn’t even notice them at the wedding because they worked with such discretion and flare. They are also extremely kind and fun to work with- George, Chris and Joanna- thank you! Even six months after the wedding I still email them and ask them for certain edits and favours and they do and respond immediately- best decision I ever made. Our venue was another excellent choice: Santa Marina hotel is utterly stunning and the staff here were also exceptional. They really took care of us and the truth is we did not have a single hiccup at the wedding thanks to their prompt attention and help. My florist (Lenia) at Studio7 was an absolute superstar! I had limited involvement other than to say what flowers I like and the colours and she had it all laid out for me (just like I envisaged) when I walked into her store one day to discuss the details. On the day of the wedding she added additional touches which made it all the more beautiful. The most memorable moment of our wedding was the groom’s entrance- he had an entourage of about twenty of his friends and made a LOT of noise for his entrance! We have no regrets. My advice is, make the decision to be the guest at your wedding. I was adamant to be a guest at my own wedding and I had a blast with ZERO stress!”
