If you’re a long time reader of Fly Away Bride, you might have heard us harping on about making the most of the beautiful surroundings at your destination wedding a few times. Well, we really can’t say it enough and today, we’re starting a series of wedding palettes literally based on destination wedding locations. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be showing you exactly how to pick your colours from specific places we’ve featured weddings in. Our first example is gorgeous Montenegro, a county located at the very southern tip of Croatia along the Adriatic Sea. As a starting point, look at the dark tones of your location: here, the mountains in the distance and the sea at certain points have beautiful shades of teal. The Adriatic also has an amazing turquoise hue that works so well against the teal. So, these are your dark shades: for the lighter tones, look at the warm quality of the sunlight and its reflection off the water- dusty pink is a perfect compliment to the stronger green shades. Make sure to include a neutral base hue: ivory linens, stationery and floral ribbons suit this palette really well. Include lots of greenery with your bouquets and floral displays- juliet garden roses, peonies and astilbe come in many lovely dusty pink shades. Antique pewter metallics can work here for display trays and cake plates, but keep gold to a minimum: remember, you want your colours to emphasise the natural beauty of your location, so really your location is the star of this palette.
