Good morning ladies. First of all – apologies for missing our Saturday song, a blonde moment on my part to be honest. I was in town watching the Ireland match on Saturday when I suddenly realised that I hadn’t posted it and I was a bit too fragile yesterday to even consider picking up the laptop but Monday is here and we are starting the week fresh with some winter wedding inspiration. Winter weddings can be so beautiful but you often see summer-like colour palettes and blue brides shivering as they brave the cold weather in their strapless dresses for photographs and to be honest, I don’t quite understand it – not when winter brings lovely things such as cosy warm knits, copper glows from the fire and a night sky that twinkles like no other. I know, why spend money on a dress if you are going to cover up- but I’m only talking about the outdoor moments when I suggest that you throw on a fur stole or a beautiful white knit jumper (I saw this one on Friday from river island and thought a shorter version would be so different if you had an A-line skirt and a sparkly belt to hide the join) and a pair of gloves. Once indoors, you can take them off again to show off the gorgeous details for look number two as you warm yourself by the fire. Those of you that frequent Fly Away Bride will have noticed by now that I’ve a complete obsession with metallics this year and they have played a part in nearly all of my inspiration boards. Today is no different and I’ve teamed of greys and silvers with midnight blue warmed with golds and coppers that remind me of a roaring winter fire. More than the colours, winter is about texture and if it were my winter wedding, I’d be warming up the colour pallet with cotton, cashmere and velvet details.
