We have such a beauty of a wedding to start off this week with you and I’m particularly pleased, because this week I fly into the very European city that it took place in, Paris! Overflowing with special touches, Phi and Andre’s Champs Elysées Wedding was planned to perfection by the wonderful team at Fete in France and captured by FAB favourites, One & Only Paris. Determined to have a stress free wedding, Phi and Andre settled on having their destination wedding in Paris as it held fond memories for the bride who studied there for a year during college. With closest family, friends and their loveable yorkies by their sides,  they exchanged vows in a beautiful little chapel and we are the luckiest to be able to share it with you today.

From the Bride:

“We met in San Francisco and got engaged on our fifth anniversary and our wedding day was on our seventh anniversary. We always liked the idea of a destination wedding because it means the wedding party will be smaller and we knew that everyone who came made the greatest effort to come. We appreciated this gesture more than any gift they could give. It was difficult to pick a location that both our families could travel to as my fiancé’s family is from Brazil and mine is from US. After trying to pick a place in the middle, we decided to throw all that out the window and pick a location we wanted: we choose Paris because I studied abroad there for a summer during law school. I fell in love with the city and couldn’t think of a more romantic place to have a wedding. After we had decided on the location, everything else fell into place wonderfully and effortlessly. We used Fete in France to plan our wedding and Anne was the best. Hiring a wedding planner or at least a day-of-wedding coordinator is something I would definitely do if you are getting married abroad.

Besides marrying each other, the best decision we made was to have a small and intimate wedding. Our entire party consisted of nine people and after being involved in my siblings’ and friends’ wedding, I was happy to avoid the drama that happens in every wedding. We were also happy to take our two yorkies- Paris is so dog friendly. La Maison even had a silver platter for them to drink water. It was super sweet. All our guests turned their visit into a vacation and as part of a treat, we rented a luxury bus for them to tour the major Paris landmarks while Andre and I took photos.

Our only regret is that my family could not attend the wedding because they had kids in school and the cost was too high. Having said that, the wedding day itself was perfect and I would not change a thing so my best advice to anyone else planning a wedding is to follow your heart and have the wedding that you want. It can be very overwhelming trying to please family and friends. And trust me, everyone has an opinion and hurt feelings can occur quickly. A destination wedding isn’t without its sacrifices, but the experience was beyond a dream come true.”
