Today we’re heading to the beautiful regions of Albano and Frascati outside Rome for Jennifer and Ian’s Italian lakeside wedding beautifully captured by Rochelle Cheever . Jennifer and Ian traveled from Ireland with their friends and family in September 2011 to celebrate their wedding, their ceremony was held in the Civil Court at Municipality Hall of Albano Laziale…

We had a wedding planner, Alessia Merolli who helped us search for a Municipality Hall near to Frascati as we were staying there. As soon as I saw the pictures for the Municipality Hall of Albano Laziale I knew it was the place I wanted to be married. The Municipality Hall had that prestigious feel about it; it had a beautiful white marble staircase which I walked up before reaching the entrance of the ceremony. Inside the room it was the original design which was beautiful and the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony. The town dates back to the Roman Age and offered a lovely setting for our pictures.

We were near to Castel Gandolfo Lake where the Pope has his summer residence and had a selection of our photos taken there which was stunning.

After previously visiting the Tencasamara vineyard on holiday, I just fell in love with the setting. The Tencasamara vineyard is family run and has a beautiful old terrace area which is surrounded by the vineyards, olive groves and mountains – completely stunning. When we got engaged, we both knew it was the only place we could imagine spending our wedding day. I asked for the tables to be decorated in a traditional way which they did and it looked beautiful. The food and wine was amazing, with an array of pasta dishes, meats, potatoes, cheese, olives and bread – everything you would expect and an extra special touch was the privilege of drinking wine where it was made from.

I had a clear vision in my mind that I wanted our wedding day to have a real traditional Italian feel. I think the Italians are all about family, enjoying themselves with good food, wine and music and this was what was translated into my wedding day. We had amazing food both at the vineyard and hotel, I hired a string quartet for my ceremony and we had music on the evening and the wine was flowing all day – it was perfect. I know everyone says it but it really was the best day of our lives, we both have never felt so happy and beamed the whole day. We found the day magical and treasured every moment of it which is so important.

The whole day was filled with highlights, but the key ones for us were 1) when we were pronounced husband and wife which was the most amazing feeling to know that it was the start of our journey together. 2) The speeches were unbelievable, I think we both experienced every emotion from crying one minute to laughing so hard the next. Finally, having the most amazing day which was more than we ever dreamt of and sharing it with the people in the world who mean the most to us.

How did you go about planning your destination wedding? We had stayed in Frascati, which is approx. 25 minutes outside of Rome previously and felt that it had a traditional Italian feel, not touristy at all. Once we got engaged I booked flights to visit Frascati again and booked into the same hotel, Hotel Cacciani which is a family run hotel. Once we booked our dates I arranged with the hotel to book out all hotel rooms for that duration for our wedding party. We arranged another trip to the Tencasamara vineyard to discuss arrangements for our wedding reception and had the evening party back at Hotel Cacciani. Our wedding planner, Alessia Merolli arranged the ceremony and legal documents due to the language barrier.

Congratulations Jennifer and Ian, thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us!
