Well ladies, are you trying to sort out what your groom is going to wear on his big day? We may just have a solution for you today! I know my own groom is struggling with what to wear on his wedding day at the moment (ok, “struggling” might too strong a word.. it’s still a full 4 months away so I reckon he still thinks he has ages!) but one great idea is to hire a suit. It usually works out the less costly option, plus they get to wear a pretty high-end suit to boot. We worked with formal suit hire company Les Deux Oursons in Paris earlier this year and can testify first hand that they are really excellent. Attention to detail is their forté and… well, just beautiful suits really! If you’re having a destination wedding in France we recommend them highly. We’ll turn you over to Alex to fill you in on a bit more about their company, with images of the suits they have available.

Can you tell us a little about your company, what you offer and where you’re based?

We are based in Paris (near the Eiffel Tower) and we specialise in suit rental for men.

Can grooms arrange a private appointment to visit your company and try your suits before they book?

Everybody is welcome! There is no need to arrange an appointment to come into our store and rent a suit.

Do you also dress groomsmen and other members of the wedding party?

Yes we do- actually we even rent accessories for women (hats, small coats, etc.)

How far in advance would you recommend grooms reserve their suit with you?

It depends, but for the spring and summer seasons, we advise our clients to come as soon as they possibly can.

Do you have advice for grooms who are wearing your suits to their wedding?

The only advice is “you must be comfortable in your suit”! D-day is crucial and you need to look elegant of course but also be able to enjoy the day and be comfortable.

Can you tell us a bit more about the people behind the business?

We are a small team of about twelve people with a lot of experience between us. We have a spacious store and our own on-site workshop.

Do you have any exciting plans that you’d like to tell us about?

We love the fact that a lot of people around the world come to visit us- it really broadens our experience. We listen to their wishes and learn so much from them about new trends. We want them to be satisfied so we’re always looking for ways to improve our service. That is why we’ve developed the service of creating personalized accessories in our on-site workshop.

Happy Friday! Hope everyone had a good week and that things are shaping up nicely for your weekend! I know my plans are coming together nicely and for once, I can’t believe I am willing Sunday night to come a little quicker! I’m going to see the Great Gatsby with a few of the girls and honestly, I think I am going to explode with excitement. I’ve watched the trailer only about 100 times. I never did get over my softness for Leo after seeing Romeo and Juliet for the first time, and I was only 10. We know that Great Gatsby wedding inspiration has been flooding Pinterest and wedding blogs alike for the past 18 months but we couldn’t let the week pass without putting our own together. We went for something a little bit more mysterious, modern and dark but with glitz and glamour and a bit like the reviews of the movie so far, it won’t be to everyone’s taste – but hey, who cares, it’s only a bit of fun!

Incase you missed any of the loveliness we were up to this week, we will give you a quick recap! On Monday, Amy shared everything you need to know about getting married in Malta.  We got all wrapped up in string and twine later that evening with some nail and string art inspiration. On Tuesday, we joined Kiran and Jez in Positano for their Italian Wedding before reaching for the stars with some Celestial Inspiration. We couldn’t decide what way to wear our hair on Wednesday and Thursday, hair up or hair down – regardless, there was plenty of beautiful wedding hair style inspiration. And finally, we were shown around Venice for the sweet engagement shoot of Russian couple, Olga and Dimitri.

If you’re a bride thinking of a wearing your hair in a down-style, keep in mind your dress shape and type. This is even more important than for those wearing their hair up, since your hair will be hiding a portion of your dress. Choose hair style accessories that don’t overpower your dress- if you want the focus to be your gown. Remember if you’re getting married somewhere hot, hair might frizz in the humidity or become flat (or do both like mine does!) so bring appropriate products. I don’t know how many times I’ve gone on holiday without last minute bits like this, saying to myself I would “get them when I’m over there,” only to spend the whole holiday searching for a pharmacy. Loose waves can contrast a dramatic ball gown well. Tousled and pretty, the look can be relaxed too and can do beach wedding chic just as well. This style can be low maintenance as long as the volume required can be sustained throughout the day. Addition of a hairband, hair clip or flower crown can keep strands out of your eyes, or just add that finishing touch.

Fresh Romantic ✈ Half Up

Keeping that girly look while ensuring hair is off the face, a romantic half-up style with buoyant curls is ultra feminine. A great style to show off a pretty bridal hair pin or some fresh flowers. Or go one step further with a loose half-bun, keeping the romantic look by leaving a trail of hair loose.

Glamorous ✈ Side Waves

Old Hollywood-style structured side waves can be ultra glamorous. Keep in mind that this is a look that will have to work with your dress, since you’ll be hiding one side of your gown. Those a little hesitant due to the maintenance of this style could try a twisted side ponytail, to help keep hair in place while still achieving the look.

It also works best on layered hair- so you have some short bits to the front that give the illusion.

Gondoloas, Venetian masks, quaint bridges.. this photo session is pure Venice. Stylish couple Olga and Dimitry met with photographer Luca Faz (one of our regulars here at Fly Away Bride) at a local street market on a sunny spring morning for their Venetian engagement session. They started out by walking to Rialto bridge (the oldest and largest bridge on Canal Grande). Snapping photos along the way they soon reached Dorsoduro village and partook in a glass of local wine and some cicchetti (Venetian snacks, sort of like tapas). The Dorsoduro area is one of the highest elevations in Venice and one of six sections that divid the city. From here a short but romantic gondola trip brought the group back to their hotel in San Marco Square. Isn’t Venice just a feast for the eyes?

Don’t you love that time-lapse shot of Dmitri walking up steps to meet Olga on the bridge? And the complementing shades of the green window awnings, turquoise water and warm Italian pink stone and brickwork. Sigh…

Hey hey! Hope your week is going great and that your plans are coming together for the weekend! Wedding season has kicked off so no doubt many of you are thinking of final touches for the big day. We haven’t touched on wedding hairstyles in a long time and today we wanted to share some of our inspiration finds for long hair with you. I’ve long hair and I prefer it down – when I’m wearing my hair up, it’s not a good day! I’ve never gone for an up-style for any event as I just don’t think they suit me but recently, the only wedding hair styles I’ve been drawn to on pinterest are the whimsy, low-tied buns and curled up-styles. It’s something I definitely want to try seeing as I’m one of those girls who has a headache within 5 minutes up wearing my hair high. If you are wearing a veil, a low tied style is a good option as the veil will sit well. Keep detail to the front of your face for when the veil comes off and although the look is loose and effortless, make sure it’s pinned well. So here they are, our low wedding hairstyle ideas for long hair.

 I absolutely love this first low bun on the left, the swirl is so interesting and very romantic. Again, I love the curl detail on the right and this looks like a comfortable up-do, very important for your wedding day. A very simple low side bun as in below is effortlessly romantic, and a great option for a bride doing her own hair for her wedding abroad!

Who doesn’t want to feel like a star on their wedding day? Celestial wedding inspiration can be an excuse to bring metallics into your decor. Sparkly silver cake pops become little globe-like planets and star-like accessories make elegant bridal wear. Navy and forest green complement both gold and silver so well and can save a metallic colour scheme from verging on gaudy- another good way to avoid this is by using antique-style decor elements like the globe below which can bring a vintage feel to your theme: think old-gold rather than ultra-bling. Kiran and Jez’s stylish affair was set in the romantic town of Positano, along the Amalfi Coast in Italy. The groom, Jez, a highly-regarded and decorated fighter pilot in the UK Royal Air Force and his beautiful bride, Kiran, a doctor, were both stationed at the same airbase when their eyes first met. Their Italian wedding in Positano was attended by friends and family from far and wide and included many of their colleagues dressed in uniform (in 30 degree heat!). Positano is one of those locations that will take your breath away every time you lay eyes on it and today is no different. A perfect backdrop to a dream destination wedding.

The Master of Ceremonies was a highly decorated US marine and Jez and Kiran exchanged their vows in the afternoon sunshine with the smell of fresh jasmine in the air on the terrace of the Positano’s Wedding Hall overlooking the turquoise Mediterranean sea below. Guests dressed in full military uniform formed a guard of honor or “sword party” for the newlyweds – a real personal touch.

Congratulations to our lovely featured couple today, Jez and Kiran and we wish you a lifetime of love and happiness. We are back later today with some stellar wedding inspiration!

OK, we will admit that this mightn’t be the most practical of DIY projects to take on if you are getting married overseas but if you are planning on a week’s stay before your wedding day, then this could be a fun last minute DIY project for you and your wedding guests. I have to say – I love nail and string art, it’s so old school and I’m excited about its recent revival. From table numbers and table plans to all out wall signage, it’s drama and colour hand in hand.

This is one project that is certainly only limited to your imagination and one where you can really let your creativity shine. You could make a really dramatic ceremony backdrop like the one above incorporating you wedding colours and with a simple frame, it would be easy enough – just time consuming.

I particularly love the seating chart above as seen on 100 Layer Cake. It’s a very creative and fun way to show guests to their seats and each table could be represented with a different colour string. I’d imagine that a large guest list would mean it would be hard to read but you could definitely create single boards linking names to table numbers.

I a.d.o.r.e this “My Beloved”. So eye catching and I’m hoping that it found a permanent home in the back garden after the wedding. If you fancy DIYing these nail and string art tutorials, you might find this “how to” helpful. Enjoy girls!

Last week we looked at the legalities of getting married in Malta and promised to follow up with our Malta Destination Wedding Guide so as promised, here it is! We’ve touched on this island before in our Malta Venue Spotlight and today we have lots more information for those thinking of getting married here. Malta is a small nation in the Mediterranean situated south of Sicily and east of the most northerly African country, Tunisia. The nation consists of an archipelago of islands, of which only the largest three are inhabited- Malta, Gozo and Comino. These have been inhabited for 7,000 years and have a wealth of historical and cultural significance. The Maltese city of Valetta is Europe’s smallest capitol city- a fortified harbor town with beautiful buildings and panoramic views, and was one of the first ‘planned’ cities in Europe with a grid street system. The sunny Mediterranean climate keeps the average temperature at around 18ºC (65ºF). It can reach 30ºC (86ºF) in summer but 12ºC (54ºF) is about as cold as its gets in winter. Food here is Italian-inspired, particularly by Sicily. Much of the architecture is made from local, honey colored limestone. Walls of this limestone outline fields and yards and the pinks, reds and whites of oleander bushes appear everywhere. Sunsets can be spectacular with magnificent pastel displays. Even though the island of Malta is small (only just over 300 km²) it boasts an abundance of wedding venues, from converted farmhouses to baroque palaces. There is so much to do here that wedding guests will be endlessly entertained- see our list below. It’s a really impressive place, just perfect for a destination wedding, and so many Irish people travel to Malta for exactly that- I’ve been to one here myself and it was just so pretty.

Wohoo it’s Friday and the weekend is drawing near! After the activity fuelled days of last weekend, we are ready to chill out and relax. I also have a date with a little guy, my 6 year old nephew for some banoffi pie making this afternoon and I’m not quite sure who is more excited! Friday’s FAB 5

We couldn’t finish up this week without our usual weekly round up so incase you missed us, here is what happened! On Monday we had a lesson in letterpress wedding stationary and saw some of the beauties from Minted. A 10th Wedding Anniversary Wedding session followed on Tuesday where we spent the morning at Ashley House with Lisa O’Dywer before we saw out the day with some Cinco de Mayo wedding ideas.

On Wednesday, Amy gave us a few ideas on appropriate destination wedding favours, the sunglasses were my favourite! In the afternoon, she shared her take on a wedding inspired by midnight skys and soft skin tones. It was off to the Big Apple yesterday to witness the marriage between Maud and Patrick before rounding up yesterday with some more wedding inspiration. Amy finally gave into to her inner ombre and featured a very subtle but romantic mood board.
