Eric and Cathy eloped to Paris to marry in a beautiful and intimate ceremony joined solely by their parents. The couple didn’t want to get caught up with all the details so they enlisted the help of Fête in France to plan their destination elopement. Captured by Catherine O’Hara, we love everything about this elegant wedding- the bride’s gorgeous BHLDN gown, her beautiful vintage jewellery and the couple’s scrumptious looking cake, to mention but a few.

“When we first got engaged, we went to tour a possible venue and were astounded at the cost we’d have to spend on just one day.  After that, Eric and I talked about what was most important to us; he wanted to have a two week honeymoon, and photographs were the most important to me, so Paris was an obvious choice to have our destination elopement.  I didn’t envision a specific wedding and I didn’t want to get caught up in all of the details, so it was easy for me to give up control and trust a good wedding planner.  Since we both wanted the day to be just about the two of us, we didn’t invite any guests.  We also didn’t feel okay with asking family and close friends to travel so far and spend money, but at the last minute, Eric’s dad had a business trip in France and asked to attend the wedding.  Thus, both of his parents were our only guests.

It’s difficult to choose a favorite memory since it was honestly such a magical day, but the one that especially stands out happened during the ceremony.  The celebrant was the kindest man, but he was asking us to repeat the longest sentences.  Of course, Eric was perfect and repeated each word with ease.  I waited in fear for my turn, and when it got to me, I burst out laughing since I couldn’t remember half of what he wanted me to say.  For a few minutes, the two of us were bent over, laughing and crying.  For me, the moment symbolized not only how imperfectly perfect our wedding day was, but also how imperfectly perfect the two of us are together.  Fête in France did such an amazing job of coordinating that I literally had no worry in the world, but after this happened, almost anything could have gone awry and the day would still be incredible.

I got my wedding dress from BHLDN, as well as the beautiful sash and earrings.  I wore Jessica Simpson heels; I wanted to find shoes that I could comfortably walk in all day and wear again.  Eric’s mom let me borrow her gorgeous vintage ring, and the pearl bracelet that I wore is actually an old find from Forever 21. In all, our wedding day was even more lovely than what we imagined it would be.  We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will always look back on this day with the biggest and brightest smiles.”
