Einstein has an awesome name. He also has an awesome wife Vicky and today, we are so delighted to share their awesome destination wedding in Vienna! Vicky and Einstein are both New Yorkers with Ecuadorian backgrounds and it took them two years to plan their big day but it was completely worth it. They wanted to keep it small and intimate and we are loving the moody blue hues of their colour palette, caught perfectly by the very talented Claire Morgan.

We asked Vicky why it was they chose to have a destination wedding..
“Travelling has been a long passion of mine. I’ve travelled through much of Europe and I have always known that someday it would make a perfection wedding destination. It was my husband however, that heard through close friends about Vienna’s beauty and charm. From there, the planning began.”

Planning a destination wedding is quite the task, did you seek any help like a wedding planner?
Kind of. After we contacted the woman that organises the events at Schönbrunn Chapel, we were set. She found us an English speaking priest, took care of all the paperwork and even ordered the flowers and string quartet to play during the ceremony. The event planner at the Sacher Hotel, where we stayed, organised our entire wedding reception. From food, flowers, the bouquets, cake, and limousines, she made planning this wedding very easy. At the last minute, she even made arrangements so that my entire wedding party and I could get our hair and make-up done.

“It was important for me to combine both my American and Hispanic heritages. The best way I was able to accomplish this vision was through incorporating specific colors. In the US, brides often wear something blue as a sign of luck. Usually, brides wear a blue garter. I choose to wear blue shoes. To favor my South American background, it was important that I include the color red, also as a symbol of luck and love in a marriage. To accomplish this, the flowers on my wedding cake were red.”

“Our photographer was simply heaven sent. Her previous work was amazing. She was very organised and always quick to respond to all my emails. From the moment we met her, we immediately felt at ease. And indeed, our pictures turned out gorgeous. Almost two years later and our families still talk about our incredible photos.”

“The biggest challenge we faced was the language. Both my husband and I were born in the United States and come from Hispanic backgrounds. Neither of us spoke German therefore we often reverted back to the Church and Hotel event planners.”

So Vicky, what advice would you offer brides planning a destination wedding?
“Stay focused, plan early and remember that at the end of the day, your wedding is a celebration of love for one another. Enjoy every minute of planning because it does go by very quickly. Take a moment to step back and embrace your day.”

Wise words Vicky. Thanks so much to our lovely couple today and also to Claire Morgan for sharing this gorgeous day with us. We will see you after lunch for some floral fun…

The hotel’s 149 rooms are beautifully decorated with a belle époque influence, and there are a number of rooms available to suit different wedding sizes, from small salons to the larger Marble Hall. The speciality of the house, an original Sacher Torte wedding cake, is of course available- the famous dessert’s namesake Eduard opened the hotel in the 19th century. John F.
