The simplicity of this courthouse ceremony in Rome is the perfect recipe for an intimate and romantic elopement. Cassie and David are natives of Wisconsin in the US and decided to elope to Rome for their wedding celebration. Eschewing tradition a little bit more, they even spent the morning of the wedding together, relaxing in a café and strolling the cobblestone streets to collect flowers for Cassie’s bouquet. The bride wore her sister’s necklace as well as a rosary wrapped around her bouquet stems (a gift from her grandmother), and with these she felt as if she was able to have her family present in some small way, even if they weren’t there in person. Captured by Rochelle Cheever, this elopement is full of beauty and love.

From Rochelle, their photographer: “Dressed in an ivory lace gown, Cassie made her way down the grand aisle of San Camillo de Lellis to Ava Maria- a moment that will leave you absolutely breathless. After the heart-felt “I do’s,” the couple took the streets accompanied by me for a romantic photo session. Greetings and congratulations filled the air from locals- a happy surprise for the newlyweds, while the opulence of the historic Roman boulevards and the thrilling panorama made this time more an adventure than a photo shoot.”

For future couples planning a destination elopement, Cassie and David offer the following advice: “Be true to yourself. Let go of worrying about who you are making happy or who you aren’t. If you do what makes you, as a couple, happy, everyone will see that, feel that, and it will make them forget that you didn’t do what they expected you to.”
