Claire and Yoan, from Britain and France, met while working for a travel company together. They decided to fly to the Croatian island of Brac to celebrate their big day in style (more below on their decision to travel here). Brac is famous for its beaches, olive growths, white limestone, wine and fine cuisine. September was the perfect time to travel to the island, and the couple’s celebration was planned to perfection by Dalmatia Events and captured so well by Maja Jokic.

Claire and Yoan always knew they wanted an outdoor wedding. They had once spent a summer working on the Croatian island of Brac and it was so beautiful they decided to get married there. To be able to get married on the mountainous highest peak of the island was just incredibly perfect: breathtaking views to surrounding islands and bays made the perfect ceremony backdrop. Even though Croatian summers are usually hot and dry, Claire and Yoan’s big day dawned a little cloudy and more clouds gathered as the day wore on. When ceremony time came the peak of the mountain was misty as a fairy tale, and photographer Maja Jokic captured the romantic and mystical feel perfectly. After the heartfelt ceremony the guests wanted to stay on the mountain a little longer to enjoy the special atmosphere. A toast was made to the beautiful couple and local snacks of fruit and cheeses were served.

After the ceremony the wedding party has moved to the reception venue – a hill terrace with a view to the city of Split. The plan was to have dinner on the terrace, but the clouds were not having it and we set up inside this tiny traditional tavern just to be on the safe side. It wasn’t plan A, but it added cosines to this small family and friends affair. We decorated with simple pastel flowers and candles to suit the ambiance and each guest received a pouch of dried lavender. The couple was greeted by a traditional three-piece local band to start the festivities right away! Claire wanted a sweets table so that the guests can enjoy the candy during the party. Her naked sponge cake was also so big hit with the wedding group.Around the middle of dinner rain starting pouring down and the party became anxious for it to stop so everyone could move outside after dinner. In true fairytale form it did, and the Dalmatia Events team grabbed brooms and mops to sweep away the water and quickly set up the DJ on the terrace. The party started without delay and the guests spilled outside to dance the night away, lasting until the very small hours.
