Flying all the way from Hong Kong for their romantic elopement, Jenny and Will’s portraits were shot over a two-day stay on location in Oia, Santorini in this wonderful and totally DIY wedding session. The newlyweds embodied a level of elegance, sophistication and modernism that HannaMonika was keen to capture in their portraits: “We could also describe them as organic and minimalist- there was no pretense about Jenny and Will. As their photographers we decided that the thrill of eloping to Greece and standing on top of the world in love was going to take center stage in our images. Capitalising on the brilliant natural light Greece is known for, we headed for scenic spots not only appropriate for the occasion (elopement portraits) but ones that would complement the contemporary and chic edge we wanted reflected in the photography. On location at the church, sky above us sea below, we did away with the textures of the environment and chose to feature the sleek canvas of sky- perfectly offset by the crisp white church – as touchpoints in our photographs. The vivid light streaming down during our session added a luminous quality to the photos that really brought out the magic of the moment. We find that using an extremely refined yet saturated color palette lets the images speak volumes without saying too much.”
