Get ready today as we hit the streets of Paris and really glam it up with Part Two of our Coco Chanel wedding inspiration shoot! In case you missed it yesterday, here’s Part One. We rose early the morning of our second day in the luxurious Villa Blanche to finish off some detail shots with the excellent Christina Brosnan. Our lovely model Roisin posed on the stairs of the villa, mimicking the iconic scene in Coco Avant Chanel where Coco sits on the stairs of her famous Chanel store. Which, by the way, we visit a little further down! The cakes and desserts we kept monochromatic- as Chanel liked to keep things, and Jenny of Eye Candy Cakes recreated the fabric-like cake we had in mind perfectly, imitating the draping of sumptuous material. Table and glassware from House of Hannah provided a touch of glamour with elegant gold finishings for the table decor.

It was said that the Chanel No. 5 bottle was inspired by one of Arthur “Boy” Capel’s whiskey decanters, plus Boy was fond of the odd cigar, so a whiskey and cigar guest table was a must. One of our favourite details was the guest book, a French-English dictionary where words were circled corresponding to messages left on bookmarks. We encapsulated the Chanel empire further by backing the seating plan with tweed fabric squares and having miniature bottles of Chanel perfume as guest favours- wrapped in little black velvet ribbons to incorporate fabric and texture where we could. Floral arrangements by the Mon Plus Beau Jour team were elegant and simple, and just so apt.

After finishing in the Villa Blanche we took a train into Paris where Roisin and William got kitted out in some serious glad rags. The Rachel Gilbert dress we found in Covet was just so perfectly similar to the dress Coco wears in the ballroom scene in Coco Avant Chanel that we couldn’t pass it up, and William’s suit from Les Deux Oursons was just incredibly dapper. Lexi DeRock kept hair and make up suave and sophisticated, generally perfecting the look we were after. Simplicity and elegance were the key to this shoot and we concentrated on keeping to Chanel’s mantra of less-is-more with really high quality materials. It’s a little hard to put into words how glamorous it felt being in Paris for this shoot, but I think the images below capture the essence pretty well.

Farrell and Chase did a superb job creating signage that would have been fit to be held by Coco herself. Fair play to Roisin, she was freezing in the January Paris weather but she never faltered for a second and was an inspiration to us all. We’ll be back tomorrow with the Best Day Productions film of this shoot which really, you don’t want to miss!
