Richard and Rachel’s Wedding in Ireland ✈ by This Modern Love

This modern love_010

A while back we mentioned that we were going to publish local weddings every now and again for the simple reason that they can provide great inspiration and information on a particular area and today, we have a such a treat. Richard and Rachel are one creative couple and wonderfully resourceful. They made the menus themselves and picked up so many great things in Ikea to dress their venue, like jam jars for their sweet, candles, art easels for their table numbers and lots of twine to tie everything together! Their reception was held in a converted Mill and we just love how they made use of the entire building and it’s three floors. Tim and Claire from This Modern Love are responsible for the ah-mazing photographs of this beautiful day so I’m just going to hand this wedding over to their wonderful work!

Louise and Ian’s wedding in Durrow Castle ✈ by Savo Photography

Eric Savoie Louise&Ian_014

Todays wedding is a pretty perfect fit given that a) this cool couple arranged the whole wedding in Ireland from London, b) they got married in Castle Durrow, one of our featured venues on Tuesday and c) well it’s a complete show-stopper. The bride, Louise is just strikingly stunning and the wedding had an array of beautiful details (such as the bouquets… look like they were covered in frosting) and with a genius like Eric Savoie on hand to capture all this wonderful wintery goodness throughout the day, they were never going to go wrong.

Ireland ✈ Venue Spotlight

Venue Spotlight Ireland_007

It’s St. Patrick’s week and we are celebrating being Irish the whole week long. Yesterday, we were so excited to show off Part One of our second ever styled shoot – “A Mythical Tune” which was based on Old Irish Wedding Traditions. Part two and three are yet to come this week so don’t miss out! A few weeks ago we started a new series to try and help all you destination couples find the perfect venue in France. This week, we couldn’t look anywhere else but Ireland so for all of you thinking of getting married here and don’t know where to start, hopefully we can help. For our first Irish venue spotlight, we are looking at romantic Irish Castles. Castles in Ireland are plentiful and we must admit, we found it quite hard to pick just three to start with but we will eventually get around to all of our favourites!

Belle Isle Castle – Co. Fermanagh

This absolutely stunning venue sits on one of the 8 islands on Lough Erne in Co. Fermanagh, Northern Ireland and is perfect for a small and intimate destination wedding in Ireland as it offers exclusive rental. The 17th Century Castle has 7 rooms decorated in antique furniture that can sleep up to 16 people within the castle but also offers self catering cottages that can accommodate a further 54 people if you have a bigger crowd coming over. Entertain your wedding guests with dinner in the Grand Hall and enjoy the tranquil castle surroundings.

Caitlin and Nathanials Irish Destination Wedding ✈ by Aspect Photography

Caitlin and Nathanial by Aspect Photography_028

Another destination wedding in Ireland for you today. This time though, we are heading west to Galway where Nathan and Caitlin from Montreal (I know-with a lovely Irish name like Caitlin, we are convinced that she has to have strong Irish roots, but we forgot to ask!!) tied the knot after seven and a half happy years together. Shane O’Neill from Aspect Photography was on hand to capture the days magic, and gosh – did he do just that.

A Destination Wedding ✈ Joanna & Paul’s Wedding in Ireland by Studio 33

JoannaPaulStudio33_035

We have a lovely treat for you today all thanks to a very creative couple, Joanna and Paul and one talented photographer. Joanna, an art teacher from Toronto and Paul, originally from Dublin (but living in Toronto for the past 20 years) married in Ireland last year with a beautiful wedding reception at the Station House Hotel in Co. Meath. This small intimate affair was caught on camera by Fionn McCann of Studio 33 and we are simply mad about it!

Joanna fills us in on their love story… “We’d known each other for 8 years prior to dating, we knew the same people. I didn’t fancy Paul at all, he was a little rough around the edges for me. One evening, we happened to be at the same event and overheard me talking to some friends cursing the old garage door of the house I had just purchased because it was rusted and wouldn’t open. The next day I received an email from Paul telling me that I should take it easy on the garage door… I ended up inviting Paul to one of my singing gigs at a jazz bar in Toronto. He came with a friend and for the first time in 8 years I actually thought he was kind of cute. I guess that’s where it all began, not always a smooth ride, but what do you expect from and Irish man and a French Italian woman.”

Lisa O’Dwyer Photography FAB Sponsor Spotlight ✈ Special Offer

LisaODwyer_024

Today we’re delighted to introduce Lisa O’Dwyer Photography as the newest of Fly Away Bride’s sponsors. Based in Ireland, Lisa will happily travel internationally to capture your special day. You may have seen Lisa’s work previously on Fly Away Bride including an engagement shoot which she photographed for an American couple in Guinness Store House here. We’re thrilled to have Lisa onboard and because we wanted to get to know her better we had a little Q&A…

Can you tell us a little about your company and what you offer?

I’m Lisa, of Lisa O’Dwyer Photography, an American living in County Kildare with my Irish husband and two young boys. I offer a photography service that is tailored to the individual and reflects the unique story of a couple. I studied Fine Art and Art History at university, and hope to convey a fine-art style in my photography. This style is influenced by fabulous American photographers such as Jose Villa and Elizabeth Messina. Natural light is very important to this style as it gives a soft glow to the subject. In addition to capturing the beauty of weddings, I also love to capture the fun. I’m not all about style…I’m totally about substance. I really enjoy this job!

What is your approach to photographing weddings and what is your preferred style?

I follow the main participants on the day and am always on the look-out for pure emotions and capturing the beauty in a fleeting moment. I do a little bit of posing through direction of couples. It’s always fun and natural and is never cheesy. I think people need a little direction to look their very best in their shots as a newly married couple. I’m not a photojournalist just getting snapshots. I see myself as an artist or art director always looking to make my client look their very best and truly convey their joy.

We’re already brainstorming for our next shoot, something to look forward to…

Lacey & Chris – An Engagement Session in Dublin with Lisa O’Dwyer

Lacey&Chris Lisa O'Dwyer Photography_124

Getting to know different photographers, suppliers and couples from around the world is a really nice way of keeping occupied, that’s for sure. Adding to this, the other thing on my “really nice” list today is being able to get to know all the amazing suppliers that live locally. For a long time I’ve known that there is such inspiring talent in this country but only admired them from afar. Now, because of FAB, I’m gradually getting to know them better and last week, I had the pleasure of exchanging multiple emails with the lovely Lisa ODwyer. Originally from Pennsylvania and now living in Kildare, Lisa is a hugely gifted photographer and it’s with great excitement that today she makes her second FAB appearance with the engagement session of a lovely American couple Lacey and Chris, at the Guinness Store House in Dublin.

Sail Away With Me ✈ Inspiration Shoot Part 2

Aga17

Good morning! Hope you all survived the first weekend of December organising the decorations and Christmas lists!! I’m so pleased that today we can bring you Part 2 of the amazing shoot Pamela and I had the pleasure of organising in Dublin. We were so lucky to work with some of the finest suppliers this great little country of ours has to offer. The second installment, captured by Brosnan Photographic and Aga from White Tea second shooting, is full of gorgeous details so get your life-jacket and lets set sail.

Pamela from Farrell and Chase (and Fly Away Bride of course) provided the charming stationary and signage. She felt that her suite “Love Letters” lent itself perfectly to the overall theme. Instead of a guest book, messages in bottles for the Bride and Groom were used, complete with vintage ink well and feather. Romantic? Yes, very.

The Cill Airne was the perfect location for our 1930s winter travel themed shoot. The boat is full of character and there were so many lovely spaces, we were spoiled for choice. Below is another stunning brooch bouquet from another great Irish supplier. If you missed Thursdays post you will also have missed a charming hand crafted brooch bouquet complete with pocket watch hand made by the very talented Carrie of Best of Buds. Carrie gave us a choice of two but they wer just so pretty, we had to use both. An incredible piece of art, the brooch bouquet is so destination friendly.. no wilted flowers and the perfect keepsake.
