I can’t express how excited I am to launch Fly Away Bride with this stunning intimate, French inspired wedding in South Africa. Anri and Anthony met and live in London, and were married in South Africa on 10.10.10! Although Anri “was born in South Africa and this was naturally going to be the destination'” for their wedding they were inspired by their passion for everything French to add a certainje ne sais quoi’ to their wedding day and very fittingly chose the beautiful Le Chatelat as their venue.

What can I say, the stunning images taken by Annemari Ruthven Photography speak for themselves. I think Anri has to be one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen…

French Inspired Wedding

“I was born in South Africa and this was naturally going to be the destination, as my roots are still firmly planted in my motherland. We wanted boutique French from the start and when I found Le Chatelat in Sandton, it was at once the perfect venue. We loved the setting, the high ceilings and chandeliers, the grand staircases and opulent paintings and the Tuscan style gardens. It captured us both and we fell in love with the place before we had even entered the gates. What they have there is very special indeed.”

“France has a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ that never fails to provide inspiration. We love the place; it’s intoxicating.. Anthony has a beautiful little maison on the river in Limoges where we spent six months in the summer. I got to love the French countryside and its people as much as the bustling city life in Paris and it was easy to draw inspiration from this. We designed the menu to incorporate all our favourites; escargot, frog legs, brioche, fillet de boeuf and my darling beau’s Achilles heel, meringue au citron. We also had champagne truffles hand-made a few days before the wedding that went into the favour boxes and had our love poem printed on the inside of the confetti cones as a keepsake.”

What was the best decision you made? “My photographer. I loved her work from the moment I first looked at her portfolio. Annemari has a flair for documentary photography that is second to none. She had been on another shoot the day before and could only fly out from Cape Town on the morning of our wedding. It was risky, but it absolutely had to be her. Annemari captured the essence of the day magnificently and immortalised the most treasured of memories.”

A big thank you to Anri & Anthony for sharing your stunning wedding with us.

Quelle belle journée!
