A few months ago we featured Gemma and Eamonn’s engagement session, and the beautiful light that Matt + Lena Photography captured really stood out for us in those gorgeous images. Hence our excitement when their wedding photos landed in our inbox recently! Gemma and Eamonn loved the village of Albufeira in southern Portugal where they had their first photo session so much that they ended up returning there for their wedding. But who can blame them- the lush surroundings, pretty buildings and quaint village streets would bring anyone back here!
From Lena: “These two know how to throw a party! The day began at the villa with the girls getting ready, six girls in one bathroom doing their hair and make up, with me standing on the tub documenting it all! Back in the hotel room Matt was hanging out with Eamonn and the boys drinking beer and watching a football match on satellite.
The ceremony was held in a pretty little chapel in the village square of Boliqueime, a small town north of Albufeira. The service was performed by the bishop from Gemma and Eamonn’s home town in Northern Ireland, a long time family friend who flew out to Portugal for this special occasion. The ceremony was very entertaining, the bishop had everyone tickled with references to “Sex in the City” throughout the blessing. The reception was held at Grand Real Santa Eluelia Hotel in Albufeira with the dance party in Le Club. Everyone was on the dance floor when the time came just enjoying the band and later the DJ. There were some awesome moves!”
Gemma wore a beautiful dress by David Fielden with a beautiful full length veil. In total 150 guests flew in from all over the world and they all stayed at the Grand Real- and how great is a destination wedding where everyone gets to stay on site together? Thanks so much to Matt & Lena for sharing this pretty wedding with us!
