I’m delighted to welcome Aislinn Events as a sponsor of Fly Away Bride. Aislinn Events run by Annie Byrne specialise in planning destination weddings in Ireland. Annie was kind enough to answer some questions to help you find the lay of land when it comes to weddings in Eire…

Can you tell us a little about Aislinn Events and what you offer?

We specialize in Ireland as a destination for weddings, so we basically help couples living abroad to get married in Ireland easily and without stress so they can actually enjoy their time in Ireland with their closest family and friends and not running around with their ‘to do’ list!
Brides can choose from Full Wedding Planning, Month of and Day of Coordination or we will create a package just for them often including travel itineraries and day trips for their guests. Most couples at the beginning aren’t even sure what they need help with so something bespoke gives them as much or as little help as they need without losing sight of their vision.

Why do you think couples should choose Ireland for their destination wedding?

Ireland has something for everyone and everything for weddings. Stunning scenery, beautiful locations, history, culture, romance, fun and a lively atmosphere- if that is what they want!

Where are you based and what cities/counties are you available to for work in?

I’m based in Dingle Co Kerry which is a beautiful small fishing town on the southwest Atlantic coast in Ireland but will help couples get married anywhere in the country at a location that is best for them.

Where is your favourite destination to plan a wedding and why?

If it is about location, I think right here in Dingle we have everything for a destination wedding. But in general, I love alternative and exclusive use venues that can be found here and all over the country. Smaller manor houses that feel like a home away from home with all of your family and friends staying right there with you {and you can nip down to the pub} is the best in my opinion.

Do you have any advice for couples planning a destination wedding in Ireland or elsewhere?

Where ever you decide to get married make sure you have someone that you trust in that location. “on the ground” as I call it. Be it a wedding planner, a venue coordinator, a friend or relative you need someone you trust and to keep good open contact with them. You must have someone who can relate all of the real logistics to you {for example that the only dry cleaners is 40 miles away or everything shuts down at a certain time of the year} or things can be very different than you imagine when you actually get there.

Can you tell us a bit more about the person behind the business, how did you come to work in the wedding industry and set up Aislinn Events?

I am from Los Angeles and have a long background in restaurants and hotels at the higher end but always knew that I wanted to plan weddings, so throughout my career I made sure I worked in positions that dealt with weddings in any, and every capacity. Consequently I have been involved with easily over 200 weddings from planning them to actually running the catering staff on the day. In 2009 I knew I could give more to my brides if I was independent and Aislinn Events was born!
