Good morning lovely people. Aren’t the week’s just flying in? We are facing the last week of September and the evenings are getting shorter and although I like this time of year, I really don’t like saying goodbye to Summer! So, you can imagine my delight when Brideen from Photography by Brideen sent me today’s glorious Belfast city wedding. I haven’t been to Belfast in years but I’m now planning my next trip. I love so much about this wedding from the ranunculus filled bouquets to the views over the Harland and Wolff Shipyard and it’s so wonderful to see this famous city through a wedding lens.

Our lovely couple today are Ailish and Matthew and they decided on Belfast as that is where they met and Ailish was about to make the big move! After an engagement in Paris, plans were set into motion for their big day. Ailish told us a little more about their vision for the day..

“We aimed to have a vintage feel with art deco invites, which teamed up with the engagement ring! The church we were married in ‘The Good Shepherd’ is set on lovely grounds and the colourful mosaics inside are beautiful. It also had a short aisle which was an added bonus to combat nerves! I’d always wanted a city chic hotel and we had been at a wedding fair in the Europa, so we felt the Penthouse there was a great venue. We then accelerated up the years to the late 50’s early 60’s for the general theme of the day with Matthew’s suit and my dress. We aimed to keep it simple and classic and it all tied in well on the day with our vintage Westminster car, cocktail and canape reception and evening meal at the Europa.

I just love that second last shot, it’s nearly like Hollywood… but it’s not, although there is a Holywood in Belfast if I remember correctly?! Big huge congratulations to Ailish and Matthew and a special thank you to them both for letting us share their day with you. It goes without saying that we are thrilled Brideen has finally made her Fly Away Bride debut and are very much looking forward to the next time we have the pleasure! We are back later on today with some wedding traditions so we shall see you sometime after lunch!

What a beautiful wedding. I’d love to know where the bride bought her gloves, I would love a pair of similar length for my wedding Scotland next year.
