ABOUT FLY AWAY BRIDE

Hello and welcome to Fly Away Bride, conceived by Pamela in 2011, a bride planning her own destination wedding in Rome,  with a passion for destination weddings and a realisation that there was a huge gap in the wedding blogosphere for destination brides.

An unforgettable wedding in Rome and a new harp playing, wedding blogging addict, FAB partner, Lindsay Moynagh, later… Fly Away Bride is taking flight.

We aim to provide a dedicated space where fellow brides planning their dream destination weddings can come and find inspiration and advice. Covering everything from gorgeous real weddings and fashion and beauty tips to destination guides. Fly Away Bride features only the most unique and gorgeous destination wedding related content, brilliantly talented vendors and of course real destination weddings full of style and great ideas.

Meet Pamela:

Hi I’m Pamela a designer, destination bride and the founder of Fly Away Bride. I have to admit this is a pretty amazing job but there is allot of hard work going on behind the scenes at FAB and it has been a bit of a roller coaster ride getting here. As a graphic designer with big dreams I had my first taste of the wedding industry launching Farrell & Chase in 2008, a collection of letterpress wedding stationery. It was my first experience of dealing with brides and grooms planning their special day and I was hooked. After three years of designing wedding stationery for other couples it was my turn to design stationery for my own wedding. Myself and my now husband decided on a destination wedding in Rome. We had travelled around Italy together many years ago and fell in love with the food, the culture, the people, the stunning countryside and the magical cities. It was a natural choice for our wedding destination.

When planning my own wedding and looking for inspiration from my favourite blogs I realised there really wasn’t a destination wedding blog offering inspiration to couples planning destination weddings in Europe and further afield, and so Fly Away Bride was born! After a three month test fight which received an overwhelming response from brides and suppliers from across the four corners of the world, it became quite apparent that I wasn’t the only destination bride looking for inspiration.

I spent the summer getting married, honeymooning and looking for someone to join me at Fly Away Bride for the journey ahead. Lindsay soon came on board and the FAB team was complete.

We aim to inspire and maybe even make you smile, enjoy!

Meet Lindsay:

Hey there, I’m Lindsay, co-owner of Fly Away Bride. I’m not married, or even engaged (nor am I trying to drop hints as subtle as the Tiffany and Co. Etoile with Pave-set Band)… so you might wonder how I ended up here, with one of the loveliest “jobs” I could have ever hoped for. Don’t worry, I wonder too sometimes but I suppose it goes a little bit like this. During my years spent in Trinity, burning my hair crouching over Bunsen burners, freezing my fingers in liquid nitrogen and blowing up my dignity in general in the chemistry labs, I spent my evenings teaching the harp or playing shows so that I could I could feed my need for good nights out that would in some way, compensate for the tough days at college. One evening, a pupil’s mother approached me after the class and asked me would I be interested in playing for her sister’s wedding. I said yes… and there you have it, as easy as that. I was hooked.

After college, me and my harp ran away with a show and toured the States, Australia and Europe for a while. So much time on the road meant so much time on the internet and it’s wasn’t long before I became familiar with the blogosphere. Soon, the only pages making my toolbar were the ones of the wedding inspiration kind and I knew when I returned home, I wanted a job that allowed me to do this every day. Setting up my harp agency led me to two great photographers and after chatting to them for a while, I informed them of my big blogging plans. They pointed me in Pamela’s direction who also didn’t want to have wedding blogging adventures on her own… And the rest they say is history. I love hearing from couples and suppliers from all around the world, so whether you want to show me something just so pretty or just tell me a lovely story, get in touch. I promise to always reply.

We love to hear from our readers so please leave a message with any feedback or suggestions you might have…

I cannot tell you how delighted I am to have found this blog. I’m a US bride getting married in Florence in 2012, and every site and book I’ve come across is for destination weddings on beaches! That’s an entirely different beast–resort weddings, flip flops, and silly invites that look like plane tickets really aren’t my thing. Thank you for the sumptuous images and wonderful inspiration. Be sure that I’ll be checking in daily until my wedding day, and likely far beyond!
