We’re jetting off to Morocco today for Rosanne and Harry’s Old Town destination wedding. The couple who live in Manchester, Roseanne (Irish) and Harry (English) discovered Marrakech on holiday and fell in love. Their wedding photographer Virginie Faucher shares all the details of their wedding day…

Rosanne and Harry really wanted to have their reception inside the Medina, the old town of Marrakech. They picked up Riad Cinnamon, a luxury boutique hotel located in a quiet district with a very unique and exotic atmosphere where both they could stay together with their families in the 5 fabulous suites.

Rosanne has this big Julia Roberts smile, and she’s such a funny person. She did her hair and make-up herself with the help of her younger sister, in 30 minutes while welcoming their cousins who just arrived from a riad nearby where most of the guests were accommodated, and fixing up last minute details before rushing to the Catholic Church where Harry, the groom, was waiting for her anxiously!

The ceremony was at the Catholic church of Marrakech, located in Gueliz, the new town of Marrakech. Back from the ceremony mini vans dropped Rosanne and Harry and their guests at the doors of the Ancient city. They had to walk down the narrow streets of the medina on their way to the riad, local people cheering the newlyweds!

Cocktails were served by the staff at sunset on the roof top…

Rosanne was an incredible multi-tasks bride!! She with her mother and sister were that perfect team. They took care of all the details; colourful bows on the chairs from the UK, DIY tags, matching colours napkin-rings discovered in the souks, rose petals, floating candles…

Dinner was served downstairs in the open- air courtyard. They had a selection of Moroccan salads, pastillas : a sweet and sour pastry stuffed with chicken or pigeon and almonds. Then came the “Tanjia” a Moroccan traditional dish with lamb cooked in a jar for hours in the ashes of the hammam (Moroccan steam baths)…

Then all of them enjoyed the night breeze on the roof with “oud” players (a pear-shaped stringed instrument commonly used in Northern-African music)…
